Really nicely prepared car that thumbup

Dunno if this of any interest, but the Z3 shifter is a shorter throw than the standard one in the E30, i'm sure i heard somewhere that you can do the same conversion to the E36.
Reduces the throw between gears by about 20% and is cheap at £25 from the dealer! Worth a look maybe scratchchin

Welcome to PH. Just to let you know I hate you (jealousy is a terrible thing). You have my ideal track car - fabulous bit of kit. Nice one.

Absolutely love what you have done.

I really fancy doing that myself. About a year back I made a spreadsheet with all the costs of the project and decided it could be done at a very reasonable cost, especially when you consider the cost of 3.0 M3's at the moment. I'd fit a quicker steering rack though, as well as what you have done. It could easily be my daily driver also, if the suspension is adjustable.

Very jealous!

Really do like this car, and the mods you've done are just right. Who done the cage?

Thanks for all your comments.

The cage was made by Fabricage in cambridgeshire, it was custom made to my spec, cost £1200 fitted including welding in the box sections for the feet to bolt to.

Great job.

I am seriously considering doing exactly the same thing! I think I'd leave the cage out and put on some aftermarket wheels but otherwise the same smile Well, that and BMW motorsport paint job and spoiler but that's just cos I'm a poser smile

The AP,s are great dont get any brake fade at when on the track.

As for the cost it has cost me £9k excluding the cost of the car which I dont think is too bad for what ive got.

Good effort with the roll cage tongue out

Looks like some good workmanship!

I'm glad you kept the carpets in as although they probably weigh alot for carpets.. I can't see them weighing more than about 7kg?!

The looks/comfort they improve isn't worth the slight loss in weight without them imo..

Awesome car, gives me some inspiration for my Dakar yellow M3 which I am starting the same trackday project. But like you I don't want to strip it out as I'll need to drive it to the 'ring and back from Scotland.

Can I ask a few questions if you don't mind

1) Do you need to run spacers at the front with Bilstein coilovers?
2) What width of tyres are you running on the front on standard rims?
3) Where did you find the best price for the yoko's?
4) I assume you have no rear seats fitted with the cage?
5) Did the £1200 include spraying it yellow (or colour of choice)?

Enjoy.

Graeme

1)Yes i do run spacers on the front in order to clear the AP calipers, but I found out this week that the forged motorsport wheels will actually clear without spacers??
2)Front tyres are 225 width same as standard.
3)I brought the tyres from George Polley motorsport and they delivered next day to my house.
4)Correct the rear seats have been removed for the cage.
5) No i paid £300 for the cage to be painted.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need anymore assistance.

Paul
