Was the picture on the beach taken at Newborough? I thought I recognised it. Nice car btw, I want one myself but can't afford one at the moment, but hopefully at the end of Summer I'll be in a position to buy.

MX now for sale,

Too juicy for MRS scho's motorway commute and she wants a hatch back, keeps going on about practicality or something
Took it for one last spin yesterday, Behind the wheel of an MX5 with the roof down is a very special place to be.
On the plus side...I'm off down south to look at two VERY promising M5's in the morning!

Sorry to hear youre selling. How easy would it be to move the front number plate, and do you reckon it would take the paint off with it? http://www.smalllinks.com/CTR

No idea about that number plate, thought they were standard it on early cars?
Never fitted the cage,
Toyed with the idea of fitting coils, cage, new wheels etc but never quite got round to it...
I realized for what it would cost to get the mx5 where i wanted it i might as well stick to the plan : Buying a car i'd be happy with in it's standard spec

A bit of heat from a hairdrier and some gentle persuasion should get the plate off without any paintwork damage. That's the furthest up I've seen a stick-on plate - mounting it inbetween the sidelight/indicator area makes it more visible from the front and, while still not legal, shouldn't attract any attention from plod. The stock number plate plinth really ruins the front of the car, so I'd be in no hurry to put one back on if it has been taken off (especially seeing as you'll have to drill new holes for the plinth!).MX5 is now staying!
The MRS decided she couldn't let it go ...AFTER i spent the hours cleaning and advertising it
Putting the cage up for sale though if anyone's interested it's on ebay It's not really working for me as a coffee table ornament.
I'm happy she's decided to keep it actually, It's a really nice contrast between the M5 and The MX5. Only a letter between them but absoloute polar opposites. Well, Actually there is 3.4 litres, 284BHP, 840 kg, 4 cylinders and a shed load of electronic gubbins between them but you get the idea!
An anyone recommend a a good tyre for wet weather? ours locks up for fun in the wet (really cheapo ditchseakers) I've had a few brown trouser moments in this car myself and she's got to commute in it
Suggestions?
Rick.

I had these on my Fiat Coupe, loved them.
Vredstein Ultracs
Brilliant in the wet or dry, although they take a couple of miles to warm up.
Other than that, the Bridgestone Turanza is a good tyre- lasts very, very well (Father in law managed just over 20k miles on a set- albeit swapping fronts to rear at about 15k)
Not the most sporty tyre in the World, but is long lasting (great for commuting) & should'nt spit you off the road either.

Those Ultracks widely available? I normally like using Event for convienience if not black c/Tyre shopper.
Event have the Bridgestones for £250 for a full set.
Not really bothered about dry weather performance, i quite like the way the ditchinders i have on at the moment slide

I'm not sure on the sizes or availability for the Ultracs i'm affraid.
I really rated them- hard to spin up in the dry when warm- even with 270bhp going through the front wheels.
Worth a phone call to your dealer anyway.
Would it be worth having a look on an owners site, see what they recomend?

Anyway, I've been rolling around in this again since i sold the M5
I'm getting married next month and we're using the mx5 for the honeymoon : european roadtrip.
It's a fair old trek and we're finishing up at the 'ring so wanted get a few bits sorted before we go. Getting the timing belt changed and a few other things looked at. The bits that might interest you are:
These are supposed to be the daddies for road use/occasional trackday. Would have bought P5 but they didn't have stock and i had money burning a hole in my pocket! ^
BBS RZ ^ wanted some 15's to make use of camskills crazy cheap toyo's. These are corrado G60 BBS. as well as BBS and VW logo's the wheels are actually stamped with the same squiggly symbol as my 14" daisy wheels (looks like a j and a w merged: wanatabe logo?)
I was wondering if mazda ever specced these rims on a special edition?
^Standard zorst was blowing from the backbox. This stainless system was cheaper than a mild steel jobbie. No Brainer, just hope it isn't TOO loud.
^£120 for 4 B)
Heading down the Evo triangle for a bit of a shakedown test later today. Will be down north wales for the weekend so going to have a play with ride hight/damping levels to get the chasis set up nicely.
Will get some pics.
Going to book a couple of trackdays for july and august. Probs Anglesy and Cadwell. Possibly Oulton but it seems to be a bit on the pricey side.

Yeah, good luck with that! Not the ideal exhaust for a long European road trip. I had a dual on mine but it was uber loud. I don't think the single exit is much different - it's down to the bore of the midpipe coming through the transmission tunnel.Gassing Station | Readers' Cars | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
