What are you doing re: cappage?
Centre caps? E38 ones. They've been painted to match.

You need another set of alloys, then you can have one of each on the car.

I popped in to BJV Engineering this morning to collect the Style 5s. They've come up a treat:

Those look great, what does a refurb to that standard cost?

Last one from me for now:

300 mile round trip today to collect some seats. And they are some seats:

They've been sat in a shed for a long time by the look of them, but my God they're comfortable.

And if you look here:

That's right, hand pumps for the lumbar support. Luxury.

Pretty pleased with them, and more so as the pair cost me only £80.

I'm imagining them covered in cow. Mmmmmm, steak.

Minor update:

New alternator arrived.

ARP conrod bolts have arrived.

The ECU is back from End Tuning (thanks Enda!) with the EWS delete, raised rev limit and new map.

The intention is to get the sumps swapped between the M52 and S50 this weekend, and then that engine can go up for sale to make some space in the garage, and also to get the throttle bodies off the S50 so they can go for a refurb.

Getting there...

Oh, and I'm trying to find an M5 battery box (well, specifically the top cover, but will take a complete box) so if anyone knows where I might find one, that'd be grand.

Lottery. I am still waiting for a ns rtab, they had the OS!
Ross mentioned that on the phone hehe

With some parts they wait until they have enough orders before commissioning a batch, with others they sometimes have to get a new supplier. Bit of a lottery, but I don't think any of them are show stoppers at this point.

They're my "aide memoires" rather than BMW descriptions.

But if they don't arrive soon enough, who knows...

This has basically turned into a full nut-and-bolt resto - not what I had necessarily intended, but if a job's worth doing...

No, that was built to Kumho Class A regs. The E28 should come in at a third to half of the M3 build cost.

How much cheaper than an E28 M5?

I do like ordering parts though.

A fair chunk cheaper than a decent one, and exactly to my spec. This should be quicker, lighter, hopefully more reliable and usable and everything will be new.

Not saying it'll be better than an M5 - it won't have the same equipment level or provenance, for example, but it should suit me nicely. Very much a build that doesn't have resale in mind, rightly or wrongly.

For completeness:

This was on special offer at ECP, so I got two:

And these should make longer journeys more entertaining:

The 6x4s go int he standard location (front footwells). The 6x9s will go in the upright under the back seat - I had a set there in my first E28 and it worked a treat. No need to have them on display, but make a useful contribution to the sound quality.

The nice people at Cobra have sent out some new side covers for the hinges on the seats, but instead of sending me new wheels for the backrest adjusters, I've received what look like the inserts for harness holes. Given how helpful they've been so far, I'm sure getting the right parts will be no bother.
Some of this will come in handy (it's a pack of 7 sheets):

but the remainder is for the Berlingo, to kill some of the vibrations through the side panels.

I think it must have been. It blows icy cold and I seem to remember there's an invoice in the history for an a/c overhaul at some point.
