Lovely cars OP and great that you're using them often.

I've been following this thread for a while as I live nearby - saw the DBX today, almost reflexively waved as it was so familiar! hehe
Funnily enough that wouldn’t of been me driving. It was on its way back from the service centre with one of their drivers.

When they delivered the car back to me last time they had hoovered the inside, very nice, and pushed the front passenger seat so far back it dislodged the child seat(which then started beeping) and damaged the seat back leather. Facepalm.

So this weeks journey has been them gauging the work required to make right. The saga continues aha.

Alittle jaunt out in the F1 today. Mostly rain sadly.

How frustrating re the seat - just a daft error. At least you're not slumming it while your DBX is getting sorted thumbup

I know! Felt sorry as you know someone is getting a telling off but at the same time don’t damage my car!

May have negotiated a carbon fibre replacement for the seat backs though!

Aha that is true, you have to own two Aston’s so that you can drive at least one whilst the other is being repaired biggrin

Percy.

Spotted a DBX in the Waitrose carpark this evening, a black one though.

The DBX 707 has ticked over 4,000 miles now so no better excuse for a few pictures.

We recently drove to London for a short break, which yielded the best economy yet, 22.9MPG! Not too shabby imo.

Annoyingly it has developed a check engine light. It’s not going away either. Car feels and sounds fine but a quick OBD scan shows it as a misfire in cylinder 3. I suspect it has happened the once and it perhaps didn’t notice it. Now the code persists.

I haven’t cleared it as I want it as proof for the dealer. Another email to Aston Martin service centre then….

That’s rather frustrating.

Do Aston not have mobile techs that could come to you?

I’d expect a bit more of a personal service if I was spending that sort of money.

They do yes. Ultimately if this is a genuine misfire and not something like a sensor then it will need to go to the dealer anyway. Then the wait for parts begins.

Honestly I’ve had so many issues with both my DBX’s, it’s getting quite tiring.

A fair point.

It’s not really a great look is it? Maybe Aston Martin benchmarked their customer experience journey against Range Rover rather than Bentley.

You/your threads have been the only source of positivity around the DBX I have seen which makes it all the more frustrating as a reader!

It is a huge shame, as the car is incredibly competent in the areas that are important to me.

Sorry to hear your woes Nath.
To balance this out, I have had no trouble whatsoever with mine in 7,500 miles.
I hope they sort your car so you can enjoy it soon again.

I’m beginning to feel extremely unlucky with my Aston issues.

Honestly never had a car that has been so finicky. It’s a good job they are incredible to drive!

The misfire definitely isn’t happening, I believe it had happened the once and now the ECU has stored the code as the car drives perfectly. Still it will be going in next week.

Probably for the code to be cleared and the issue to arise with 5 mins of me receiving the car back!

So the DBX was collected yesterday by Aston service to get this misfire properly diagnosed and fixed. Annoyingly the cars AC system has started to smell too. As the wife described it “like a pond” when first turned on. Not the best, so I’m getting them to look at that too!

In other Aston related news, I took my Vantage F1 around Oulton Park last week!

A few professional pictures have come back and they are brilliant! Some of the best trackday photography I’ve seen!

I’ll do a full write up about the Vantage on track shortly.

Enjoy!

Really good photos, from the side profile it resembles an arrow head. The colour is superbly flattering to the lines, in inclement conditions, too.

With respect to the air conditioning, it sounds as though it'd benefit from an air con bomb such as the excellent ones from bilt hamber or würth and I imagine that's what the dealership will do in the first instance.

Thanks. They really do show the lines of the vantage well don’t they?

I’m just surprised that a 6 month old car with 4.5k would suddenly start smelling so bad through the ac. Bizarre really. Classic Aston in my case though.

Nath,

Our DBX707 smells whenever the windshield washer fluid is used. It's done it since new. Similar to the smell you describe. We thought it was the heater or water dragged into the car, but we finally pinpointed the smell to when we used the fluid. I've diluted it with commercial low temp fluid and the smell seems to have gone away. (Or reduced enough not to be a problem.) Perhaps they use one that grows bugs?

Not sure if this is the issue with yours as well, but it might be worth a try.

Thanks for sharing your experience Tedd, it’s certainly an odd one!

Bizarrely my old DBX 550 never had this issue and I’m sure there is no difference in the washer fluid and ac set up. Hmmm

The 707 is back! 8 new spark plugs, 4 new coil packs and no misfiring. The master tech who worked on it dropped the car off, which was nice as I got to speak to him directly.

Even helped me out the roof box on! A/C is smelling great too so nothing more left to do than load her up, fill the tank and get a good nights sleep, ready for the long drive down South tomorrow.

Is that the car that to some look like Kuga? My neighbour has a Kuga in similar colour and that AM looks nothing like it. Lovely car OP.

Yes to many people (who have probably never seen a DBX in real life) they do say that.

Just how all older Astons are Fords or how the new Supra is a BMW and the new defender isn’t a real Land Rover. Just internet troll talk mostly!

Glad you like the car, it’s certainly a special car even if it does test me with its niggles at times.

To what was the air con stink attributable and... what's a 'king' drive to the south? You don't think that you're better than us southerners with your posh Kuga? wink
