Great work!

Looks a lot of metal though, still aiming for <1300kg?

I genuinely can't believe you've got the skills to just make that from, nothing... So much to think about!

Great project, again.

Thanks, still going for 1300kg will make some good weight savings when the iron heads are changed for aluminium.

Well that’s what the bonnet and grill surround is going to look like.

Decided the front arches were too wide so they have been moved to the rear and new smaller arches have been made for the front to allow more room between the arch and the bonnet. I decided next to mock up the lower cover panel to see what it would look like.

Forgive me for not knowing this in advance - with the wire model approach, do you sheet metal over the top or glass fibre?

If the former, how do you provide corrosion protection? Do you use a galvanic primer e.g. Cold zinc spray or do you accept rust problems as a compromise of simplifying the build process.?

Good question. Plan A is to make the body out of steel, because metal shaping is something I would like to try. Plan B is to make it out of glass. I hate leaving metal unprotected so I tend to paint as soon as it’s finished. If I cannot paint then I use oil as a temporary protective, best would be to buy some lanolin but I have never used it. Finial protective coat will be a two pack paint.

This is the best thread I have seen anywhere for years.
OP your skills are very impressive. I am an engineer myself and can see the detail of your work.
This car has got magazine feature written all over it.
Keep up the good work matey.

Aha you welded a steel sheet under the seats, this is what i've done on mine for safety :-) I also have a scratch build so understand you desire for a total 1 off as that's the reason I have gone the same route.

I'm very keen to see what you plan for the body as you must have an idea as you've already made the frame for the doors lol.
Safety has been a major factor with the design, including a steel floor, front and rear fire walls, side impact protection, roll bar and a front energy absorbing crash beam. I am just getting around to the door design over the next few weeks.

Do you have a build thread? I would like to see some pictures, not many scratch built cars around.
Not worked on mine for a few years but here is the thread.... I've been playing with the noble in the meantime re-making all the body in carbon (took moulds and redesigned some panels).
