To what was the air con stink attributable and... what's a 'king' drive to the south? You don't think that you're better than us southerners with your posh Kuga? wink
I’m still bathing in the after glow of the coronation clearly wink

No issues found with the AC system so it’s just been “cleaned” and both cabin filters changed. We’ll see if it returns.

Very good, the flags are still raised on Oxford St.

I'd buy some air con bombs and periodically maintain it which should do the business.

Well we made it down to cornwall with no issues. 338 miles, 5 hours 40, averaging 23.3mpg. Only two stops too which, considering we are travelling with our one year old, is great!

For all of its foibles, the DBX is a truly remarkable car to cover long distances in. The comfort seats, suspension tuning and adaptive cruise make progress so effortless. Aston did nail the GT element for sure.

Weather is glorious currently, let’s hope it stays this way!

Noooooo!

Misfire is back. Same as before, fire up the car and get a flashing Amber CEL followed by a solid amber CEL. Noticeably lumpy idle. Code scanner shows cyl 3 again. Turning the car off and opening the door etc, makes it go away but that’s not a proper fix.

It’s not stranding me but patience is wearing thin now.

I’d be stopping off at the nearest Bentley showroom, Nath.

How utterly frustrating.

I know, frustrating is definitely the overriding feeling here. The DBX is so close to being the perfect do all car but the issues are a drain on it all.

The Bentayga is nice and practical but leagues away from the Aston dynamically(so I believe, not driven one), also VAG group which I’m not too keen on. At least VAG cars would have their reliability in check somewhat!

Oh god don’t buy a Bentayga, I meant a W12 Continental GT and a roof box hehe

Or part exchange it for another 707, mine’s been trouble free. Not a single problem.
Very strange this misfire you’re experiencing as the AMG V8 is pretty reliable and is essentially a tuned version of the engine you have in your Vantage F1 Edition. I can understand your frustration though!

My thoughts too, this is the 4th car I’ve had with the m177 v8 and the only one where I’ve had anything engine related go wrong.

Issue with p/x for another 707 is that I’d have to wait for a new one to be built and I’d get speared on the price. Would I want to risk it all again?

A nice Tl:dr version of my issues so far. This doesn’t include the fancying about getting the car collected to be diagnosed and then waiting for parts. Nevertheless, it doesn’t read well!

I am ‘that Kuga driver’ and I have to concede that the DBX does have a bit more cachet than my blue collar special! 🤣

…wonder why the repair for the misfire involved all of the spark plugs being replaced and only four coil packs? Guess that’s what their scanner reported as needing replacing? …or does one coil pack cover two cylinders on these?

One coil pack per two cylinders, you are correct!

Does your Kuga misfire with the same level of luxury though wink

The thing that would be annoying me the most here is the additional issues caused by the dealer when attempting repairs.

Must be seriously souring the experience now!

(Although at least it hasn't tried to put you into a bridge parapet on the M27 like my X5 did post an update! hehe )

Oh definitely! They have had plenty of business through me and lost a lot too because of this car. DB12 deposit cancelled. Can’t be too many customers with a double current gen Aston garage either. Hopefully they come through for me!

Nath,

Your misfire is very strange. My 707 has been flawless (knock on wood) with over 6,000 miles on the clock. My previous ride was an AMG C63S, essentially the same engine, which I put over 100K on. No engine issues whatsoever. I'm thinking (hoping for you) that it's an anomaly and once sorted properly shouldn't come back. I'm rooting for you!

So the car will be back with me on Monday.

Aston have not been able to find any issue or to replicate the fault. They have been in contact with engineers from the factory too who also cannot find issue with the car.

Feeling deflated as I know the second I get in the car it will no doubt misfire!

Have read through the thread, and surely AM would take the DBX back? I would have lost patience with it a long time ago!
