How much of that was warranty ?
Total bill was £1846, warranty paid £1313, and covered the DMF, clutch and water pump tensioner, so most of it!!

Well done to the original seller for having a word with the warranty company; that’s a result!

Did you sort the start/stop issue.. If not this is usually down to the brake pressure sensor, bmw/ mini will charge you ~£150 just for the part , but you can get one off of Amazon for a touch over £20.. easy 30 minute DIY job (need to take the wipers off the access it) and it can be coded out with a c310+

Another Mini update, sorry!!
Ivor continues to be great fun to drive, other than losing traction in the wet due to the useless Pirelli P7's on the front!!

I've just booked him in for an audio upgrade at a localish specialist, gone for JBL Club 605CSQ's for the doors and JBL Club 6932 6x9's in rear, with a JBL Concert 4x 70RMS amp to run them and some sound deadening behind each speaker, £900 all in, which I'm pretty pleased with, just need to wait until 25th January for it to be done now!!

Hoping to get him out to a few car meets this year!!

And what kind of tunes will that system be playing ?
Mostly drum and bass, trance, hard house, The Prodigy, Rap, HipHop, but also guitar based stuff, Kings of Leon, Royal Blood, 21 Pilots, Nickelback, even a bit of James Brown!!!

That’s a pretty eclectic mix !
Indeed, 32gb memory card has 103 albums on it in the car!!

Fair enough, and I do get it…

Genuinely hate renting music.

Anyway, it’ll sound fab with that setup regardless…..
Thanks Turn7, hopefully you'll get to hear it at PH26.......

Time for another Mini update...........rolleyes

An afternoon of tinkering has resulted in me finally fitting my dashcam in Ivor, actually pretty straightforward compared to the Focus, fuse panel is in the driver's foot well, took a little time to figure out which fuse I needed, picked the 12v aux socket fuse as that's only powered when the ignition is on.

I used a piggy back fuse insert as I already had it, ran the wiring up behind the edge of the dash and earthed it behind a bolt on the back of the dash.

Coiled up and cable tied the excess wire up, hid that in the space shown too, ran the power cable up the A pillar and across the top of the windscreen under the headliner to the dashcam itself.

Seeing as he had a wash today thanks to the nice Eastern European chaps at the hand car wash, I decided it was time to finally apply my Pistonheads username stickers!!

And a couple on the rear barn doors!!

Well, well, well............good, that's the pleasantries out of the way!!
Ivor went in to Dragon car audio and alarms for a fairly major upgrade of his audio yesterday, I think I've already bored the living st out of you with what was being installed, however, as it's my thread, my car, and my finger doing the typing I'm going to tell you again!!!

Front doors got JBL Club 605CSQ 2 way components
Rear quarters got JBL Club 9632 3 way 6x9's
Power is being supplied by a JBL Concert 4x70RMS amp
I also had a sheet of sound deadening fitted behind each speaker along with patch leads to connect the amp to the original loom.

6x9's quite snug in the rear quarter panels, more on that later.......

You can just about see the tweeter and bracket in the top picture and the carbon weave on the mid/bass front door speakers in the second picture.

When I first picked it up it was very loud and pretty clean sounding but lacked the depth I so craved, despite multiple attempts with the headunit settings I just wasn't happy, so I went to a deserted car park sound deadened specialist room, yanked the amp off the false floor in the boot and took a look at the amp settings..........

Hhhmmm, despite telling the installer that I wanted the front doors as full range to bring the bass to the front of the car he'd set it to HPF, so I set the amp up how I wanted it, front and rear to full range, gains to 50% not around the 75% they were, and back into the car to hear the results.........

Oh wow, now that's what I'm talking about!!!! music
Actually it was wwaaaayyyy too much bass, so around half an hour of fettling of gains, bass and treble adjustments and a couple of tweaks here and there and I'm much happier, not perfect, and those pesky 6x9's aren't doing what they should, cos it turns out that BMW Mini in they're infinite wisdom decided to make the space the 6x9's sit in literally as big as the speaker, so they just aren't producing the bass they should, luckily those lovely 605CSQ's upfront really do drop and produce great sound!!!

And finally cos I'm a tart I added the little JBL metal tags that were with the speakers!!!

Hi.
It's me again.
Is anybody there?

Oh well, I'll post anyway!!!
So a few weeks have passed, the speakers have loosened up some and sound is good but still not quite what I wanted, so I went back to the installer and had a chat.......
The outcome of that was I bought the right amp to do what I needed, but not one that allows me to expand the system, it's very capable and more than up to the job, but there's no line out to daisy chain from, so an upgrade is required, once again the limitations of the original system come into play, 4 speaker outputs only and I want 5 channels.
So enter the Ground Zero GZHA Mini five, a very compact 5 channel amplifier that has cross overs on all outputs, high/low/through on the 2 front and 2 rear channels and a low pass crossover on the mono sub output.
Decent power too, rated at 4 x 75RMS and 1 x 190RMS @4ohm, and 4 x 125RMS and 1 x 320RMS @2ohm.
This will be replacing my existing JBL Concert amp and allow me to add a JBL 1024 10" sub in a sealed box, which is 2ohm/4ohm selectable, so will be set at 2ohm.

Hiya!!!
It's time for another Mini update!!! HAHAHA haha haaa............Sorry. paperbag

Anyway, after much mucking around, an extended wait for the enclosure, and other issues I won't go into, Ivor finally has the upgraded amp and sub fitted!!! woohoo

Gone is the JBL Club A704 amplifier and in its place is a Ground Zero GZHA Mini Five, rated at 4x 75RMS plus 1x 190RMS.

It's about 80% set up, just needs a bit of tweaking!!
The sub out is running this little beauty!!

And considering it's a single 10inch in a sealed enclosure, and it needs running in, it really does fill in exactly as I wanted it too!!!! cloud9

Hi!!!!
It's me!!! wavey

Max Bygraves mode....
I'd like to tell you a story.
I bought an update for Ivor's satnav, 2023 version, tried installing it and it failed, it just wouldn't recognise the USB, supplier said try a different USB, so I did, nope, still not working, reformatted the USB. and added the files, satnav accepted this time but wanted a passkey, tried several passkeys, then it failed to update and crashed the satnav. frown
So swapped emails with the supplier and he eventually supplied a 2017 version which I tried tonight.........

Great success!!! Is happy!!!
bowtie
And at last we have a working satnav!!!
