Nelly the £300 MX5! Bangerific?!
Discussion
well as you can imagine, with the car being on the road not a lot has happened as I've been out driving it!
In just over a week I've done north of 500 miles.... I know, there's a fuel crisis but I can't help myself!
So I got my sign writer friend to make up and fit a new front plate, it's a little less than legal but it's clear and of the correct font. I'm going to carry the old plate in the car with some double sided tape ready to go should I get a tug though. I also noticed how my new wheels accentuate the size of the discs! they make the 2.5 sport setup look HUGE!
I also managed to fit the alarm that I've had sitting to go on and wired it up to the existing door locking motor in the drivers door, which is a delight! I'm going to run a feed to the back to operate the boot release button so I don't have the faff around with the key in the stiff lock or the little flap trigger thingy, but it just makes the car so much more usable now as I don't feel funny about leaving it places.
Eitherway, the car drives fantastically and I'm really chuffed with how it's all turned out!
A few cheeky pics on the driveway
And photo bucket says I now have over 150 pictures on the folder for the car... o dear!

well gave it a quick wash today, nearly 1000miles into ownership and really impressed with it.. can't wait for some more sunny weather and an upcoming Euro trip if everything goes to plan!
and of course, one has to have some awesome source!
couldn't resist a photo of it next to the daily as well

Well done. Looks like you caught a lot of corrosion before it was too late. Especially the horrible windscreen stuff. I'll watch mine carefully just in case. It seemed to be the dampness that was hidden under brittle seam sealer in a lot of places. The underside areas which get a chance to dry out sometimes wasn't bad at all it seems.
It isn't clear how you fixed the holes in the nosecone from the Japanese number plate plinth. Shouldn't they be plastic welded?

well a little work has started, my ITB build is getting there. I now have some GSXR throttle bodies and a cut up stock inlet manifold. I've just got to make the two come to one now! I've also got to collect a megasquirt from a gent on Monday, which is a MS1 v2.2 so happy days really.
O and I picked up some goodness as well.
I got hold of a Car Make Corns exhaust, it's lightweight, it's stainless and it sounds lovely! I'm genuinely smitten! In the change over I managed to snap one of the cat's studs, just at the end so there's JUST enough to hold it on. So I've got to source a decat or replacement cat (decat it is!). O and I also managed to cut the rear bumper, just a little cut along the factory swage line but god it looks sexy with my new stainless exhaust poking out!
So how she looked the other day sat in the garden...
well this last week has been busy with work and the mx5!
I've got the ms1 v2.2 modified to run the 5 and got the ITB build pretty close to getting bolted on, a spot of welding and some paint she'll be there! This is where I'm too with the ITB build...
But I've also received a cambelt/waterpump kit and got my exhinlet mod ready to fit too, so this weekend will see the engine service completed along with the exhinlet mod. That will hopefully let me get the ITB's mounted up and the ms1v2.2 fitted by next weekend. There are other performance modifications on the way, but that will have to wait till next time
