Its probably not fair to compare servicing costs with a civic but rather its contemporaries. A Ferrari 355 requires engine removal to change the cambelt and it seemingly needs to be done every full moon. This would put the sevice cost of the NSX much closer to the civic than 355...
As for values - I enquired about the red car when it first came on the market and got some odd answers to my questions. I subsequently googled the company and decided I needed a longer bargepole. I think values are realistically between 35 - 45k for average mileage cars. Auto boxes and imports seem to be a bit cheaper.

One more point regarding my underwhelming comment.
Ive done over 1k miles in it now so Im getting to know it (it hasn't become a he or she yet). imo what makes it such a great car is also its biggest failing and that is this - it does everything remarkably well. The electric power steering just works. The ride comfort is exceptional. The handling is benign. The driving position is great. The boot is big. All of which adds up to a great car.
Sometimes though its lacking the thrill you want from something special. If that makes sense?

What's certainly true about the NSX - and what definitely underwhelms anyone used to a modern diesel or a V8 - is the lack of torque if you floor it in a high gear. It really seems to take ages to come 'on cam'. Add that to the fact that it's not that light (about the same as a Mercedes W124 300E, from memory).

But if you drive it enthusiastically it rewards you (like all VTEC Hondas).

Hope to see you at some future NSX events, OP!

hehe The first one I saw regularly was owned and driven by a lady in her mid-sixties. She had it from new and drove it daily for ten years - she loved it. It was and still is an 'everyday supercar'.

That goes for me too. Whenever I've played the "fantasy garage" game, there has always been a space for the NSX.

I'm very envious of you OP, one day I hope I'll also be in the same position of being an owner.

Wow, thanks for sharing that!

Lovely car and also a long time admirer of these.

Only been in one once, I remember encouraging the owner to explore the pt just before the rev limiter cut in, hence staying on cam on the gear change.

He had never done it before and previously had been dropping out of VTEC. The car had after market rear cans and on full chat sounded amazing.

It was an early manual green 3.0 featured in an autocar buyer guide.

Fingers crossed our new house has a double garage so a NSX shaped space is now available!

Are the disappointments from the test drive not nagging at you?

No. Now most of the niggles are fixed I can enjoy the whole package. Its so well rounded, almost flawless, I can believe a granny used one everyday!
I was chasing a pair of Mclarens at a recent show and they left me wanting more power. But to put it in perspective its a hardly believable 20 years old now. BHP figures are similar to the Ferrari 328 and Porsche 964

Lovely car OP! thumbup

Was talking to a mate last night who sold a manual UK market one with an NSX plate for around £12,000 about 10 years ago - he has nearly fallen over many times kicking himself!

Honda had a red one at the recent Sunday Service with less than 20K miles on it that had been driven by a certain Mr Senna - got to sit in it but a thrash wasn't an option (well it was an auto anyway)!

Wasn't a fan back in the day but they have really grown on me - enjoy!

At Millbrook for the Company Car annual "come along and test drive the new 1.6d Mondeo" many years ago, I wandered out of the Honda tent just as a NSX came to a stop behind.

I bent down to ask the driver the rather daft question " are these really as good as they say they are?" he caught sight of my namebadge (I have the privilege of being the nephew of a well known racing driver) and suggested I hopped in.

What followed ( he was the editor of Company Car magazine so not going too stupid) set the hairs on the back of my neck up as the engine came on song, and I have a lasting memory of circling the high speed bowl in the 3rd lane ( others only allowed in lanes 1 & 2 wink ) at let's say a speed condusive to him being able to remove his hands from the wheel whilst the car tracked around rock solid by itself.

A massive moment for me, and I could not stop talking about it with all my mates for months afterwards!!

I drove an auto NSX few years back and even though it's considered a supercar I did find it very easy to drive. Fantastic cars no doubt but I do think they lack a certain something vs a 348, etc.

Jealous doesn't come close! Some six years ago, when you can buy manual UK cars for less than £20K, I seriously considered an NSX. I've always adored them. Instead I bought a Focus ST3, putting another £10K in to my business start-up.

The prices now mind, god wept. Gutted.

Not the cheapest out there, but how much?!!! http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2017...

So what's it been like for the last 2 years?
Pretty damn awesome.
I haven't had to spend much on it after the initial work but then its only averaging 2k miles per year. It has been to Goodwood every year (and will be going back this month for the FOS). It is the perfect car for that type of journey, rapid and comfortable, in fact everyone (and i mean everyone) who I take out for a ride says how comfortable the seats are. They are the best seats I have ever sat in. Anyway, some pics, this one showing the colour quite well.

It's not all been smooth sailing though...
I have noticed in the last few months that the handling has REALLY deteriorated & mid corner bumps make me clench, plus there is an uncomfortable steering vibration at speed. So I have invested some more money in it & bought some new Bilstein suspension.

20170617_120210 by antshearer, on Flickr

You can see the clever front suspension in this shot.
Plus a few new bushes, bolts and a couple of trim parts to smarten it up (I wasn't happy at the price of the ashtray, which has been missing since I bought the car).

I don't mind spending on it, after all the value of an NSX has risen so much in the last couple of years that I am unlikely to end up in 'negative equity'. But the business has taken financial priority over the last year, I sold my 944 which has freed up a little money so I can start spending again... Hoping to finish the suspension work this week and have a new, improved ride to Goodwood.

I really wanted to take it to Orkney this year but a lot of other stuff has got in the way so maybe next year.
