Excellent work, I am very impressed!

The engine looks like a peach too looking at the dyno print out, that will be superb to drive on the road, very flexible.

It will be well worth the effort, keep plugging away at it!
Thanks, but it's all been pretty simple unbolting stuff. Compared to some of the builds on here it's basic stuff. Putting it all back together again is where I'll need to earn my stripes.

Thanks for the encouragement though. I'm looking forward to turning the corner and seeing it get better rather than worse. Dragging myself out to the garage in these temperatures ain't getting easier !

Great write up Gifty! Just wish I'd had the time to come and see it in the flesh (and maybe help out with some non-technical heavy lifting!). That engine dyno has me worried now and I doubt the drag off the lights against the Tuscan will be such a one sided affair next time wink

Oh and re the cold garage - get your skiing thermals and salopettes on under your overalls and stop being such a big Jessie wink HTH!

Keep up the good work!

Cheers Stu. I'll be calling on your services when it's time to put the engine back in ! Bacon butties will be supplied.

I was planning to use Ewelme Coachworks to do the respray but I heard this afternoon they are closing down at Christmas. Real shame. Now need to find someone else now - Surface & Design are looking good but need to get a couple of other quotes.

This is what I'm aiming for in terms of colour :

All TVR's have back bone Chassis not just the S all models (not 100% on very early cars) but from S, wedge, chims/griff/cerbs right up to the T cars.

Adding a couple more pictures of the body. Just need to take off mirrors, door handles and headlights then it's ready to go for paint. I've put the doors and bootlid back on to transport it - will do the same for the bonnet this weekend when I've finished stripping the last few bits.

Scratches on the door where I had my wee mishap :

Scratches on the bulkhead :

I've found it ! The House of Kolor, ahem, colour that I liked was going to be really expensive and I've had a few questions about it's UV stability but after much trawling on the interweb, I think I've found an alternative. Peter Wheeler will probably be spinning in his grave as it's a Porsche colour - but I'm sure he'll let me off this time. Few piccies on pork :

Paint code sems to be L39C Midnight Blue Metallic but also seen references to L37W Midnight Blue Pearl. It think it's the former.

Just need to settle on a bodyshop now. Shortlist of two now, but seems to be a bit slow getting info back.

New uprated clutch and clutch release arm also arrived thanks to TVR Carparts - that'll be a job for the weekend

What a brilliant thread!
Just to echo what others have said, well done!
Looks a top notch job.
The only problem is that you've just made me need another TVR...

Thanks - it's not a million miles from the current colour but should be deeper and doesn't have the mica. I was about to bite the bullet and go for Reflex Charcoal which I love - but for once, my wallet overruled my heart.

You've been secretly drooling over Porkers again haven't you? I've told you before you need to stop this, it's an unhealthy habit you've developed wink

But seriously it's a colour that will really suit old Trev (maybe even more than Reflex Charcoal even if that's my fav colour as well)

hehe You caught me ! Nice bunch on that forum as well. Just don't tell the TVR lot, they may not allow me back in.

Got the paintshop lined up. He's ready to go from the 18th so just need to get the car up to him. Don't suppose you've got a hitch on the back of that X5 thingy have you ?

Seems a bit pathetic after the awesomeness (word ?) of the Redvictor thread - but quick update :-

The body has been dropped off with Gary at Bee Gee Coachraft to get it's new coat of paint. Should take 3-4 weeks so can't wait !

Getting it up there was a real PITA. I decided to get a towbar fitted to my Audi Avant and take it up myself with a hired trailer so ordered the towbar. It showed 'in stock' on the website but I got a call a few days after to say it wasn't in stock and I'd get it at the end of Feb...maybe. So I cancelled the order and decided to use a transport company.

I found a broker who had numerous companies on his books - fill in your details once and receive a number of quotes. Sounded good so I selected from the 5-6 quotes I received based on price and availability and booked him up for the Thursday morning. He sounded credible on the phone but come Thursday morning.....nothing. Left voicemails on his mobile and finally got hold of him around 3pm. Apparently his lorry had broken down which had delayed him. I was a bit hacked off he didn't phone but let it go. We agreed that he would turn up Friday morning as he was staying over night only a half hour away. Friday morning guess what - no show again. Still haven't heard from him.

Fortunately the brokerage was excellent and are looking into this. I also managed to get an alternative for the Monday - Mel at Flyingbluedog who was also brilliant. Thoroughly recommend him if you need to move a car.

Also started cleaning up the gearbox and fitting an uprated clutch and clutch release arm. I'll stick some pictures up next time.

The corner's turned thumbup It's a relief to start putting things back together rather than taking them apart.
