More snow today, very cold too.

My wife came home from work early so I managed to brave the cold and Fit the replacement spoiler I got off eBay for £40... the lacquer on mine had gone off and had lots of spots.

Replacement in much better nick, it will tidy it up until I organise a full respray!!

A timely reminder to keep an eye on the condition of your hoses!

I noticed on friday night that my fuel pressure was doing something odd....

https://vimeo.com/259391237

As the boost went up, the pressue dropped right off. I parked the car up and left it then yesterday set about testing the fuel pump and regulator by clamping the return hose, hmmmm, that doesn't look right, and oh, that's fuel coming out of it. Bugger.

Looks like that the hose, when the regulator is ramping up the flow is leaking, dropping the pressure off!

Replaced it with a better quality marine grade hose which seems to fix the problem.

Wow that's not good.

It might be worth having a look at the other rubber hoses around the car, make sure they are not in the same condition.

That’s luckily the only bit left of that particular type of hose!

Unfortunately it hasn’t solved the problem after all! Signs are pointing to the regulator now! rolleyes

She lives again!

Changed the regulator, same issues, checked all the connections on the pump, all fine.

Sent the pump back to FSE and they’ve flow tested it and the pump is fine, the issue was just the small pre-pump filter blocked up!

Refitted the pump tonight and all fine again. Happy days.

Well she seems to be behaving herself at the moment, treated the paintwork to a full MOP courtesy of one of the Valeters at work. It’s nice to see the old pink paint shining.

Can’t wait for some proper decent weather to get some nice driving time!

I think we're all fed up of the weather furious

Looking good, really brought the depth back to the Milano Pink

Well I’m in Lanzarote this week so the weather is less of an issue! No car to drive around but the beer makes up for it!

Left the car at the garage for the week to get the rocker cover gasket replaced (again) as it’s weeping oil (again!)

Decide what’s next for the old girl when I get back!

Been chasing a knocking/clunking for a week or so, think we've narrowed it down to the top mount bearing on the OS sticking so it will all be coming apart for that soon.

Whilst we were there we've noticed a few little bits;

  • Front tyres getting a bit low
  • OS trackrod rattling
  • Front lower arm bushes deterioarated.
So more money has been spent!

Haven’t made it into the garage to sort the bushes etc yet, still something I need to get done!

The Supercharged badge I fitted last year was looking rough...

I got a replacement from eBay which I’m quite happy with, completely different but I think it looks quite smart.

I’ve decided to press on with the car, I’ve been very conflicted recently whether to keep it or sell up and buy something else, but tbh I couldn’t get anything that does what this does without spending a wedge more cash.

So it’s in this week for all the above suspension bits and I’ve decided to get it resprayed in its original R81 Milano Red to bring it back to its original beauty.

From a distance it still looks decent.

But up close the paint fade on the metal panels is pretty significant..

Coupled with lacquer peel around on different panels..

Respray will be done beginning/mid August so not a million miles away, first step is to get all new (genuine) badges and decals for the car.

And go from there!

I did consider it, but tbh I bought a Milano one because I wanted a Milano one. It always been my favourite Type R colour and there aren’t any other colours I am so taken by to spend he extra money doing all the door shuts etc.

I did consider a wrap but for similar money I prefer fresh new paint.

Ever since I fitted the supercharger I’ve had a faint oily smell coming into the cabin, I’ve never bothered too much about it but finally decided to sort it.

The TTS kit doesn’t have anywhere for the PCV to go, so it just vents to atmosphere, and the breather on top of the rocker cover does similar (although I fitted a cheap Pipercross filter here)

I’m pretty sure these two bits are the cause of the smell so I decided to fit a catch can, it was a bit of a pain due to the layout of my bay and the differing sizes of pipes but I’m pretty happy with it now. Both breathers go to the can, then that vents down behind the front bumper. Seems to have done the job so far l!

All still on track for the respray in August and I’ve just spoken to Ben @ Eurospec 2000 about getting the car there to be mapped next month hopefully smile

It’s being done by the body shop that does all out paintwork at work, so I hope that as I’ve known them for years they’ll do a decent job. I’m not expecting perfection, but it will be better than it is now I’m sure!

that's what i keep having to tell myself about mine, it's not perfect but it's a damn sight better than it was....just stings a bit that it was a £6k job...feels like it should have cost half that for the end result i got.

Crikey, that is, er, a lot! Mine won’t be anywhere near that so I just hope I’m kinda happy!
