Saab 9-5 Aero - Hybrid Turbo and 9000 Bottom End - 350 bhp
Discussion
Hi all, I recently purchased my first ever Saab, ended up with this one, pretty chuffed. Bought with yrs MOT, new rubber all round, and only 56k on the clock. Already replaced DI Cassette and plugs, and had a full alignment and wheel balancing. Touch wood all is well. Really liking the mods you have done to yours, I am very tempted by a stg 1 map. Seats are sooo comfy.
Cheers Lewis

Great purchase, yours is barely ran in! How much did it set you back if you don't mind me asking?Cheers Lewis
Stage 1 - Just do it! It'll absolutely fly, you should get in touch with Karl at Noobtune and make a day of it (£80); he's well worth meeting and is a fountain of knowledge. Agreed, the seats are awesome, I sometimes sit in my back seats with a coffee to work on my postgrad as it's next to my room so got wifi haha, immense cupholders help also.
Hi mate, I paid strong money for it. However I had a budget and criteria and when I went to look at this car I couldn't not buy it. It had done 200 miles in the previous year, and had been garaged for the previous 3. Owner was OCD and had the bumpers touched up, SID displayed repaired, wheels re furbed and A/C done.I handed over 3500,and he put it thru MOT that day.Hoping I get some long term use out of it, as it's the new family wagon.

For that mileage I think that's pretty bang on the money for a reasonable condition one; as OCD as yours is I think it's a good purchase. All it needs is stage 1 and you have a keeper! LPG conversion would be good too.HybridAero said:

Why on earth would you want to saddle it with LPG?lewis328 said:
Mine is getting 27mpg overall which I can handle, the most economical car I have owned was a e90 330d, all the others have been low 20s so LPG not on list. What is the process for stg 1 map with Noobtube? How long would the car be off the road getting ECU flashed?
Lewis
People travel to Karl and he does it whilst you wait. Lewis

Half the fuel costs
How many miles do you need to do to recoup the installation cost? My stage 3 9-5 Estate used to do a comfortable 33mpg @ 85 on the motorway, that's hardly bad for the size/performance of the car. Plus if your pushing the tune of the car beyond standard then adding the extra ? of LPG. No thanks!Mikeeb said:

Well I spend £2500/year on Shell VPower. Supply and installation cost is £1400. Assuming fuel costs are halved it would take 14 months to break even. Tony my mechanic is running a 2.5 (bored out) 9-5 Aero with a gtx2871r (400-430 bhp) that runs on LPG. It switches seamlessly from LPG to VPower at 4000 rpm. The way I drive I'd most likely get through a lot of VPower still, but LPG would enable me to do longer trips more cheaply.lewis328 said:

She's back from her annual service and upgrade session!
- New 2004 bumper installed; needed to modify exhaust tip to fit
- Manifold leak fixed; now hitting 1.7 bar and holding 1.2 to redline

- MOT; JUST passed the emissions test
- New Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas on the front
Next plans are:
- Santa Pod in August

- Modify Brembo brake kit to fit
- SAS ARBs
Long term plans are:

- Trip to the #Nürburgring (with breakdown cover of course).

Couple of shots alongside a stunning Maserati Quattroporte. Surely the last of the proper Maseratis before they diluted the brand with all the tacky crap of today.
There was an Italian registered one of these parked at the roadside overlooking Lake Como in Bellagio when we visited the Italian lakes. It was extremely well used, dirty, scratched, dented and generally dog-eared and I genuinely thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen - it just looked so "right" in that environment.
Then the next day I heard it start up and drive off - sounded like an absolute bag of nails!!
Still looked some way beyond sub-zero as it rattled off though!!
9-5 looks good btw and nice to see it back getting some use

Thanks mate, yeh sometimes I worry about the fuel costs but when I consider my friends spend £200+/month just to own/rent a little hatchback I'm happy to put the same amount in the tank every month. It was extremely well used, dirty, scratched, dented and generally dog-eared and I genuinely thought it was one of the coolest things I had ever seen - it just looked so "right" in that environment.

I love the sound of that Italian registered QP; a big old posh car getting used and abused, reeks of 'old money'.
Rears tinted by https://www.nottinghamwindowtint.co.uk - their quality of work is incredible so can strongly recommend. Does look a bit drug dealery but I like it
