Engine collection has been delayed a bit but the tear down starts this week regardless.

Going to try to tidy up the engine bay in the process too - rewrapping wiring harnesses etc

Teardown in progress. Everything is disconnected and drained and the driveshafts are out so ready to lift the engine but ran out of time today

What engine is going back in Toastie? Another bog standard 1.1, or something more "powerful"?
Current plan is for a 1.1. If something else came up at sensible money I'd be open to it

Anyone able to recommend a supplier of that plastic sleeving stuff for wiring looms? Preferably in a garish colour.

Original stuff is cracked and damaged in multiple places so I'm going to tidy it all up whilst there's room

We have an engine!

Needs a good degrease/clean and probably a few gaskets/seals. Will definitely need to reseal the sump but might actually chuck a new one on.

Tempted to give the block a coat of paint too but that's maybe a step too far smile

"New" engine unloaded

Clutch is only a few years old but will probably still replace it.

Need longer bolts the same thread pattern as the bell housing bolts so I can get it mounted on a stand

No updates at the moment unfortunately - replacement engine is still awaiting cleaning / fettling and I have a million other things taking priority

Progress today - engine is on its stand and I've started cleaning it up.

Glad I am already putting a sump on it - the drain plug is seized solid which is I assume the reason why it wasn't drained of oil (ask me how I know....)

Metal water pipe that runs to the water pump is corroded and has a pinhole in it - must source a brand new replacement because the old engine has a very similar problem

Yeah, good at this aren't I

Still, it was cheap, low mileage and I saw it running including at temperature

Started laying down some primer on the engine

Sump will be painted before fitting when it arrives and the rocker cover when I remove it to change its gasket
