Cool 'Ring video.. What was the Silver M3 doing (3.20 in)
For the first part he didn´t know which side to let us overtake and then....
thought the 400+ hp V8 would shake the old M3 off

The look on the face of the passenger when I overtook was priceless!!!!

Nice car, I'm very jealous!

Where do you track the car in Iceland, or do you have to take it to Germany?! My family live in Akranes, and I haven't seen many race tracks over there! Are there still ferries running from Iceland to Denmark, I thought they had stopped now.
No real tracks here in Iceland frown We have a small track that is used for drifting and
was originally a karting/rallycross track. So I have to go to the mainland for some
track action.

There is a ferry running between Iceland/Norway/Denmark/Shetland Islands/Faroe Islands,

That is some serious commitment to track driving if you have to get that ferry every time you want to go for a decent blat. Having said that the old road round the fjord from Reykjavik to Akranes is pretty good (and incredibly quiet) so would probably make a decent substitute wink

I'll give you a wave if I see you when I'm over there again in the summer!
The car is kept in Germany most of the time

The fjord you speak about is very nice

So do you work for Landsbanki, Glintir or Kaupthing then? wink
No I ran my own company, employed 12 people.

The situation has basically forced a CTRL-ALT-DELETE on my company and
now I´m working solo, basically back to square one

Small update.

As some people have noticed the clearcoat on the CF parts on the
car is damaged. It just "bubbles" off. No harsh chemicals used to
clean the car nor any hard scrubbing.

Here are some pics - first the "sunroof" - in very bad condition:

The spoiler flap - not as bad:

Front splitter:

The mirrors are just perfect - no clearcoat damage:

I have discussed this with the seller (http://www.e30shop.de) and he is
less than helpful. Just says these are race parts and he takes no
responsibility. Bla bla bla.

Anyways, I have given up on him and got a friend of mine who is a car painter
to make an attempt to save the splitter - worked very well:

Now he has the spoiler flap and hopefully he will be able to fix it too.
The "sunroof" is beyond repair and will be painted white.

That's quite worrying. I have an E30shop CF sunroof waiting (for a few years now) to be fitted. If it's just going to be ruined I may as well sell it on instead.
Just have someone coat it with a good quality clearcoat and you should be ok.

Hi, only just come across this thread, some amazing pics and video footage, thank you.

I apologise if it's already been asked (it took me about an hour to get through page 1 of the thread and I didn't have time to read all the pages!) but what kit do you use to make videos like this http://www.onno.is/thordur/almennt/Eurotour2007_2/... and how do you mount it in the car?
This is the unit I´m using: http://www.chasecam.com/recorders/PDR100
Bullet cam mounted on a bracket and the video recorder mounted under
the dash on the passenger side.

Well, car had a minor cancer/rust removal operation that revealed some
issues:

More and nastier rust than we expected, was exposed when all
kinds of older "fixes" were removed. Then the car is all breaking
apart/buckling at the front because of the track action.

So it looks like a bare shell restoration next winter, earlier than
I had planned. I guess I´ll be installing a full weld in cage with
strut extensions as well as seamwelding the whole shell and
reinforcing it.

Until then it´s going to be fixed temporarily & no heavy track
action.

Oh, and BTW, the engine is also shot, only one cylinder with
proper compression so it is getting rebuilt.

Well it´s a combination of a few things:

- hard track work w/semislicks putting strain on the car

- the car had a leaking front windscreen when I got it so
the carpets were wet when it rained. Don´t know how long
it was like this before I fixed it in 2007 but probably
caused alot of the rust

- the car is simply getting old!!!
