I've attended a couple of trackdays when Porkie has been present and he seems like a top bloke, even took some time out of his day last time to tell me a little about the Westie - I agree, its a fantastic piece of kit.

Cant really comment on the driving, not qualified enough tbh, but i've never heard any bad vibes along the pit lane - and believe me people know when the little white car is on circuit.

Sure he's probably made a few mistakes/broken a few rules, but havent we all - its all part of learning!!

Constructive critisism is fine, but talk of black flagging/throwing off someone after 4 minutes of viewing on youtube is just nonesense. I do agree hand gestures have no part at a TD though.

Just my 10 pence worth. And oh, loved the vid btw.

Give the guy a break, he stayed off track from 9-3 ....

Its not like he was drifting on a public road and doing emergency starts outside the local primary school.

He was in the safest environment possible whilest having a hoot.

Top hooning sir, more vids please.

counted about 6 times off the track in 1 and a bit laps and that not including the 90% of car off the track after a couple off slides gone wrong but luckily and messily caught.
I don't know what the marshal was waving at him for.
The driving is just anything but smooth.
Gesturing at the guy in the Porker at the end there is no need for, no overtaking on corners on trackdays remember. Bit close to that silver Clio joining the track though the Clio should have given way.
As he said he was having fun and not going for a lap time but I don't understand the fun in consistently driving off the track.
I had a conversation with a racing driver/ instructor about driving in his last video and he said that he would have black flagged the OP and sent him home for driving like that. I have been on trackdays where friends have been driving like the OP and they got a warning from the people in charge to tone it down or go home.
Wow we do have a chip on ones shoulder dont we !!
Dont expect Lee cares what you think about his driving to be honest. He drives for fun & believe me he has that. You should be glad he was not driving his Ferrari 430 he drives that just as hard on track.
Great bit of kit Lee your a MAD bugger !!

He wasn't exactly flying off the track in an out-of-control manner, he was merely making the best use of the available run-off.

I bet the marshalls at these track days that you've been to thought that you were a moaning little racing geek- "ooh, he didn't stay within the racing lines".

What a toy that is, excellent video and skills, a microphone beside the exhaust next time to hear the roar would be good viewing

I'm not going to bother arguing with you guys as it seems only 1 other chap is with me.

All I'm saying is the track is defined by the white lines at the edge of it. I see no reason, point or fun in purposely driving out of that area.
He has admitted himself that the marshal had a word wit him as he looked out of control.

I have no chip on my shoulder or any jealousy towards Porkie, I have plenty of friends with nicer cars than me. Just think he needs to have a look at his driving as it is a bit full on, like in his last video I commented on where he drove off the track round the outside of a corner marker board just to overtake someone.

Porkie you have some lovely cars and you obviously have a lot of fun with them I just advise you get some tuition at your next session.

For anyone who wants to tell me how st or ugly I am here is my youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/RBWill1 please excuse the noises the passengers make.

He is in one of the linked videos. I have never complained to any marshals at the trackdays I have been on.

Rumble strips would serve no purpose if one wasn't supposed to stay over the white line, just take a look at any form of Motorsport and you'll see them being used. I certainly wouldn't think twice.

A 500bhp Westfield on the track Porkie was driving is a completely different proposition to what you've posted in your videos.

Is that you driving in this vid then http://www.youtube.com/user/RBWill1#p/a/u/2/3yzXK4... ?

One undertake into right hander, followed by a second, and then spinning in front of the two cars just passed. I do hope not as it would be somewhat ironic biggrin

Tuition advice is relevant to anyone though - I do agree with you there. For what it costs on top of a TD it is always worth it.

As referred to by the previous poster. This was the second time in 15 seconds, and just before you do it again (going over rumble strips) and lose control.

See above comment and picture.

He didn't spin, and to me looks like a VERY competent driver. Take a look at your own driving before you start giving others tips. You are not the stig, nor are you an example of model driving.

With regards to the comments on the style of driving, the one thing you learn very quickly about driving modified RWD Cosworths (particularly those with big turbos) is that you CANNOT balance the car on the throttle in corners like a NA or small turbo car. Lag coupled with the fact that the boost spikes up so rapidly means it's impossible. It's for this reason that the BTCC RS500s always squared off the corners and we're talking about 1000-1200kg saloon cars there not a Westie.

If the OP's car was coming on boost on the way out of the corners then it's no wonder it looked a bit lairy. You go from a lazy low compression 2-litre to a x-hundred horsepower monster torque unit in about half a second. Big respect for hanging onto it at all. Ace video.

OP, sorry for the slight hijack.

Your car is incredible! From reading your build thread you seem like a top bloke, with a fantastic attitude. I actually live near Bedford, so will hopefully get the chance to see and hear your animal of a Westfield in the future.

There is no undertaking or on any corners. Castle Combe is different to most other tracks in that you overtake on the right due to the pit entrance/exit being on the left.

I said he went off the track onto grass in a video linked from that one. I never claimed to be the Stig or a driving god but hey even they spin from time to time. I am happy to admit to being completely caught out by how slippery that corner was on that day. I have only spun 3 times in over 10 years of track driving in a variety of cars, wouldn't have the video on there if I was ashamed of it. You have to laugh at yourself for moments like that and learn from them. How about having a look at some of the non spin videos and complaining about them instead.

As for the screen grab of me with 2 wheels on the white line. I was not even listing moments like that in my evaluation of Porki as I don't see it as odd.
Using kerbs/ rumble strips is one thing being completely off the track is quite another.
Compare the pic of me to these bits from his video...

So your 'defence' is that you spun your own much easier to drive Impreza on a wet track, cut corners and undertake people?

How odd.
