Here I go again.... Citroen XM luxo-barge content

Great car I always have had a soft spot for the xm,
I did the same myself yesterday, and bought a 20 year old Audi unseen, mine was a 660 mile round trip, it may of been a bit shorter on the return journey if my bloody sat nav didn't take me through London.
The sat nav is binned it's going back to maps for me from now on.
But at least sitting in traffic in london for two hours gave the car a good test and the gamble paid off.
I've done these buying cars hundreds of miles away road trips a few times now and each time it's paid off.
The only problem I find after I buy them I get attached to them so now I've ended up with two identical colour audi's on the drive lol
I left home 8 in the morning and got back indoors just before midnight.

Always liked these - last of the quirky Citroens. You appear to have got a good one.
Remember taking my mum to a main dealer in the early 90s to look at an AX and they had a new XM in the showroom. Salesman told me the XM was the car that killed of the 2CV - as Citroen reckoned no one would take them seriously in the luxury market whilst they were still producing the 2CV.

I had one of these two years ago, why?I visited a local garage who always had quirky, odd, cars for sale. Was parading around his yard and spotted a little back section fenced off."What's in there?"i enquired,"oh just a few old motors lying around".Couple of old Jensens were lying sitting rotting away(he wouldn't give me one of them!) and there was this big blue shace ship, wondered what in the hell it was at first,i just felt really drawn to it."How much do you want for that?"i asked,"£300" came the reply!I'll have that i said, wonderful car, never missed a beat.It was the 2.0 petrol turbo one,had a turbo diesel one for a short while too.
One of them did a very odd thing one day.I was sitting in the living room and i heard music?Looked outside and i saw the dash of the car lit up and the radio blaring lol.Thought at first someone was stealing it,but i thought mmmm, like that's ever going to happen?Still don't know how in the hell that happened?

great choice of car. Tres bien. And interetsing mention of the 2Cv 'Players. I remember fast lane magazine from 1990 when they tested the 3l v6. They quoted Citroen who said that the 2CV was stopped because they didnt sell enough, yet the journo pointed out that they made (and sold) almost an identical number of V6 XM the same year. In the same episode they also tested the Peugeot 605. Another great french luxo barge sold in huge numbers...Remember taking my mum to a main dealer in the early 90s to look at an AX and they had a new XM in the showroom. £1100 (£1180 if you include collecting it)
Only slightly above shed money for a top looking french float mobile, excellent job!Father of an ex of mine had a citroen garage, the had a BX for the mum but dad drove a big old XM, also used it to tow the trailer for collecting cars, i once got to sit in the comfort of the XMs back seat while the BX (in which me and the mum had gone on a trip) was sitting on the trailer behind us. Dont remember what broke down on the BX, but the XM was just pure comfortable wafting.
