Your a braver man than me, its gonna be one hell of a car. When are you planning to have her ready for the track?

Truely awesome build, incredible commitment, no half arsed track conversion. I've probably seen your E92 about Edinburgh aswell, hope I spot this beast at some point after it's done, but I'm giving you advanced warning you will be flagged down if I do spot you laugh

I thought I had learnt my lesson years ago when I poured £££ into my little 106. I'm in a little too deep with this now but am sure to be grinning on it's first attack of the tarmac biggrin

I'm really hoping to have it on the road in the next two months, otherwise it will have been an almost pointless exercise so far as this year is concerned. Can't wait!

Are you planning on doing anything with the diff (like dropping the ratio)?

If you don't mind losing a bit of top end speed then you should look into it.

I'm rebuilding my E36 diff to a 3.91 from a 3.23, your standard ratio is 3.62 from memory, so you could look at shortening it.

The only caveat to that is I'm not overly familiar with the gear ratios of the E46, but worth looking into for a good performance boost for a few hundred quid.

Pow!

Everything seams to be taking an age, but the cage is finally in!! Just waiting on the carbon roof, bonnet and boot before we start painting. We should be at this stage in the next week or so and then a case of bolting everthing back together and modifying all the wiring.

Some quick progress pics..

As you can see, fitting the dash back in is going to be an absolute pig of a job. Any ideas where I could get some pictures of one thats been done before?

Cheers

Id save money and preserve the vehicles value by painting the cage and the exposed interior metal in the existing body colour. I also think that it would look a lot better.

Thought it was this car at SW Motorsport a couple of weeks ago, looking forward to seeing it finished.

You need somewhere to mount gauges and switches to, and by the time you've lightened the original dash they don't weigh a great deal.

I think the vehicle's value is no longer driven by the colour of it!

I want to do this with an m3 one day! I'll be following this very closely!

Did you sell the radio/tv unit already out of interest?
