So what's next? I'm assuming this is where it starts to get a lot more expensive.
Yup. Just looking at a rather nice exhaust system from pacemaker.

Ain't that the truth? It is something that may be on the menu at some point.

Been a while since last update due to a very busy couple of months including an impromptu wedding to attend in Guatemala smile

New exhaust has been put on hold for a little while as I ordered a few choice parts from the states a couple of days ago. These parts should see a nice jump in power, more details coming soon wink

940 on 93 octane. 1000 on race gas at only 12 psi boost.

Depends how cold and how much water is in that big bin for the intercooler as to what his IAT2 temps is. The Whipple can come with up to 1.6:1 compression ratio in the rotors iirc. Add in a big enough cam and driving the blower at a higher speed it could well be pushing enough air. The 2.9 can flow enough air at 6500 engine rpm for circa 1200bhp from my vague remembrance of the calcs I did. But yeah, always worth taking Steve "Mental" Engineering with a pinch of salt.

With my build I will also be using an interchiller, which so far has seen IAT2's of -6C. That's is some nice cold dense air right there.

I am currently working on a statistical model to help me work out the right parameters for my end goal. Be interesting to see what my next mods make. See if I can get the model to predict a ballpark figure.

I also still need to sort out heat shielding the intake as well, but that may mean moving the washer bottle out of the way.

Finally remembered to scan my dyno output of the comparison of before and after CAI and tune.

What is interesting is that you can see the difference the bimodal intake on the stock airbox makes at lower RPM (red line) versus the higher airflow of the CAI at higher rpm.

So supercharging an engine and all the pipe work that entails is fine, but moving a washer bottle is a faff?
Not really a faff, just another potential job on the list.

Factory s/c LS9s run 11psi, and make a genuine ~620bhp

1000bhp is roughly 60% greater output...........
And with a better cam you get more power with less boost http://www.hotrod.com/how-to/engine/1409-lsx-blowe...

Doesn't quite work like that though. My LSA-based engine is identical in architecture to the LS9, even same supercharger technology/capacity but with 13psi makes a verified 824hp which I put mostly down to the cam and exhaust.
Yup the presence of boost shows up restrictions in the airflow and is not really a meaningful number unless you know the complete spec of the engine. If all you are doing is upping the boost, then yes it is meaningful I guess, but change anything else and it is not a valid reference number.

Other than a lot of bhing has their been any progress with the actual car yet? I last saw the thread on page 9 and upto that point it doesn't seem worth slimming another 7-8 pages without asking the question.

Parts finally shipped on friday after getting the run around from the suppliers on stock availability. Just a couple more items to get before fitting commences. These parts should see me with quite a nice gain towards my target.

Hopefully get to fit it all before Thunder Road in August. Still need to fabricate a heat shield for the cai. Also got my eye on a new domestic supplier for the exhaust but that can wait.
