Rear plate done now.

I’m just about finished cosmetically. Little chip above the fuel filler cap will be touched in and a new OEM front screen waiting to be fitted.

I’m also looking for a little front splitter to tie in the gap between the lower fog lights and the intercooler section. Just to level the front end off a bit better.

Plates look fantastic, are they reflective? I've only ever seen adhesive plates used on bonnets when people have fitted big intercoolers and/or want to maximise airflow I think.
Paintwork looks like it's got some impressive gloss on it, are you still thinking about sticking some PPF on it too?
Fully reflective. Same spec as the normal plastic/ally ones. I hate it when you wash a car and you always get the drips from behind the plate! Paintwork looks like it's got some impressive gloss on it, are you still thinking about sticking some PPF on it too?

I looked into PPF. My mate who does it said don’t bother. For the price, it’ll be cheaper to repaint the front end every 2 years. If you don’t do it all, the paint will fade at a different rate too, so when removed, it will be mismatched anyway.
I’ve also got a new set of Thule roof bars due next week so I can fit my roof box when we go away. Might even treat myself to a Velo Compact now I’ve got a factory fitted, retractable tow bar!
I know I won’t fit two ProRides on with the box fitted, so might try a tow bar mount carrier this time round.

I’ve got the Thule Motion 600 and a set of their Go Packs. Keeps the inside of the car clear and the dog has plenty room in the boot.
As much as my car looks a bit poo with the rack on it, but not having to chuck bikes on the back keeps the interior clean and in better shape. Your car is looking really well. I’m tempted by a subtle front splitter too.

All done with the second coat. Treated the cap to some plastic conditioner too. Will let it dry overnight then fold it back away.

I have a genuine Pilkington front screen being fitted next week. I grabbed a set of Bosch Aeros earlier, ready for the swap. Need to get a touch up pen this weekend. The little marks that haven’t been repainted are primed and ready.

New OEM screen fitted today (Pilkington, to match the rest of the glass). Also had a new OEM top trim too. The one fitted, and the screen, must have been replaced with non genuine ones previously. Screen was a Fuyao and the trim was too short. All sorted now.

Been given the wrong wiper blades though. I have A980S and they should be A930S. Will swap tomorrow.

I shouldn't like it because I don't particularly like BMW's and I don't like wheels in any colour other than silver (although I have gun metal grey winter wheels
but...that looks lovely
Those wheels look great too. They really suit the car.
Question. That Soft99 wax you've used, is it really as good as all the reviews I've read? Easy to apply? Long lasting?
Very easy to apply. This one is almost like a thick paste, not the usual hard type wax like the other Soft99 wax’s I have. Not sure on longevity yet, but will soon find out. ![rolleyes](/inc/images/rolleyes.gif)

Not much to update. Car is performing well. Better than I thought on the daily commute. I’m going to see if I can get 800 miles to a tank. Currently sat on 700 miles and it’s showing 116 miles left. The daily slog from Standish to Winwick on the motorway, 99% of it still being restricted to 50mph, is giving great mpg.
Need to whip the front pads out though as they’ve developed a bad squeal. Pretty recent ones too as they were only fitted prior to purchase. They really want swapping for some ATE Ceramics and they are quite heavy on the dust front. I’ll probably just re-grease the back of the pads for now and check if there are any shims fitted. Not sure if shims are standard or not on these?

Got to 790 miles before filling it earlier. Still showing 23 miles left but decided not to chance it. So without the bits of running about during the week, I can see me getting 800 miles between fill ups quite regularly.
It’s just taken 60 litres, or a little over 13 gallons. So a real 60mpg. Happy with that. Added the Oilsyn to the tank too, just prior to filling up.
