I believe that the name Beta was dropped from marketing first, for the Coupe & HPE, and from badges later.

For example, a Beta 1,300cc Coupe was badged Beta and the manual refers to it as such, but Lancar didn't call it beta. This was the case with my first HPE which definitely had a Beta badge on the boot.

By the time my second HPE was built (1985), they had expunged the name completely.
The hpe was considered a separate model from quite early on and Europe wide not just in the UK, after the rust scandal the beta name was quietly dropped in the UK on coupe and Trevi as well beginning during the time that fiat abolished lancia England and took over marketing, a move that didn't last long and soon heron were appointed to try and make the best of a bad job as lancar. On the volumex coupe European cars had Lancia B on the left hand side of the rear spoiler whereas UK versions had a badge with just Lancia and a blank space, similar things occurred with the Trevi although the Trevi was rather an unfortunate vehicle anyway cursed with hashed up styling and wonky too far ahead of its time modernised electrics

Rattlecan City! Also polish! Also new Pirelli Cinturato P4s - the car's handling and grip is transformed.

Result - mintola innit. OK, apart from the metric st-tonne of filler and all the rust flakes and the busted steering and the oil spaffing out of the sump gasket and the door trims falling off and, yeaf , well....

It is my weddding anniversary and I am taking the Missus by surprise to Le Manoir Aux Quat' Saisons for dinner. I am going to rock up in this and insouciantly toss the keys at the valet parking dude. He will probably die of grief.

Your public disclosure is unexpected.

Is this a spectator sport now...?

Hilariously, the staff at Le Manoir really liked the car so it ended up parked right in front. All the shiny new German cars were made to go round the back.

I think that this has always been a blue car, but the inner wing turrets have been welded or replaced at some point and are in that reddish primer that you see in the photos. All four wings and arches are good, with the main body rot being in scuttle and doors.

Loving the plate fixing.

out of interest, how was Le Manior?

I think I live pretty local to you (Chinnor) so I'll keep my eye out for this tearing round the local lanes smile

Le Manoir was super fabulous. I hadn't been there for years but it was every bit as good as I remembered it. Car now rescued (we cabbed it home and the car spent the night there), so the public health inspectors won't place a condemnation order on the place.
