Ignore the haters and go for it I say. It's a massive commitment financially which I for one wouldn't bother with again as the money can buy factory cars which will be faster in every way, although no where near as individual which is normally the attraction of such a build.
Ignore Rich as well, he hates boost.

Ironically, he is the most supportive and I am working with him on this biggrin

But yeah, it is the individuality of this build. One of 3 ble GTS in the country, and the only one with four figures. Unique!!! biggrin

Wormus split an iron block iirc.
Nope, my stroked 383 LS1 broke although it had something stupid like 920 lbs torque to deal with. Idiotic combo that one. Iron block died you may remember down to a combination of LQ9 + stroker crank. Liners on the truck block are shortest of all the LSx engines and one of the pistons broke up. Another lesson for the community: stay away from 4" stroke motors unless it's he LS7 with longer liners.
Ahhh my bad...

Yes, he gave up on the Whipple and went twin turbo in the end.
He had no end of issues with the blower....no end of issues with turbos, seems no end of issues with whoever was doing the work....and certainly a very indecisive person himself always changing stuff.

Then when it almost seemed to come together....he crashed the damn thing.

So much money down the drain there. Although perhaps long term it may have saved him money as no doubt he'd have spent more fortunes changing stuff !

As we all know, valve float is a terrible thing, so what are peoples favourite springs?

Will probably use a BTR Comp Cam Stg3 for now till I work out what my final cam spec will be for an idea of what lift and rate they need to support. I see BTR also do a spring kit, anyone used these? I'm guessing Gurmeet is the man to speak to.

Barny. As much as you need to do this, many of us have experienced the downside when stuff goes wrong, which it will. You've just said that Gurmeet is the man to speak to? But he's not even completed one project yet (No offence to the lad btw). You need to be talking to the likes of Jez, Harry Oz etc. who have "been there and done that" and can help on the bones of a strategy and where to look for expert help, and where not.

Although I would encourage you to scratch the itch, don't spoil a really lovely motor which is a pleasure to drive every day. I'd advise picking up an old E1 knacker and use that for the development. That way you get to enjoy the Gen F everyday (given that there is still a lot on the table to extract from the stock motor) and still cream your jeans tinkering with the project.

Just my 2p.

Are you 101% sure you want to spend this much money and probably make the car harder to sell and not add any value, whilst not knowing what the end result will be like to drive ? As has been said, you need to get out in some high power cars and see what they are like and talk to the owners. I have spent alot on mine (not as.much as the big boys) and iam happy with the result, but would not add much more power as it Will imho spoil the drive/reliability of the car. And iam only at 681bhp.. What ever you do its your choice and good luck 😊

Yes, totally sure. This was always the plan and I bought the car to keep anyway. Money has to be spent on something after all else there is no point earning it. I have everything I need, now to get the one thing I want that doesn't have four legs and wags it tail smile

Lingenfelter got to 927bhp, just another 75 to find and I have ideas about that. http://www.lingenfelter.com/page/lingenfelter-927-... Granted they did use a KB 3.6l, so will maybe up the screw size. It is staying PD though.

With a bigger blower and MS109 fuel. Won't make anywhere near that on 97 pump fuel.

Seriously? Can you just fk off with your negativity please. This is my build thread, my targets, my money, my car to do with what I please. If I don't hit my targets, then what a shame, it is only a target after all. the point of linking to that Camaro was to show that the block is capable of similar power levels like you all say it can't, as per the damn thread title. I personally believe it can, and my research is showing that it is possible. Now if you don't have anything constructive to say or have a specific answer, get the fk out of my thread.

Waiting for parts from across the pond sucks bigtime. Just waiting on pricing for the BTR stage 3 cam kit which I should get back today. While the front is off for the cam, I may as well up the boost a bit, so will up the pulley size smile Thinking of this but unsure how much to overdrive it just yet, need to run the calcs http://www.lingenfelter.com/product/L220050709.htm...

Also forgot to mention in the OP that the rev limiter has also been raised, so the retune and air filter should give me over 500 to the ground.

Need a nice dry day to get out and data log to see how she is doing and maybe drop in to se Charlie if he has a dyno day going at any point.
