Tilly the Landrover

I was toying with the idea of a normal back door however I have grown quite attached to the cat flap.
With the camp bed in it is the perfect height to lean the bed on and still open the back + with a trailer on the back it makes it possible to still get into the back.
On the downside opening the bottom with the stays on means you have a harder job lifting in heavy objects and without the stays if I leave the towbar on it dents the tailgate badly

Paul I occasionally take mine for a stroll off piste and the biggest problem it has off road (turning circle aside) is the nut behind the wheel . Everything I have thrown at the old girl has been shrugged off with disdain (the pic where I have towed the Pajero out above - couldn't shift the Mitsu however the Landie didn't even spin enough to get mud on her tyres )

I've got a cat flap on the hard top for my IIa hybrid.
The best thing that I did to it was making the lower tailgate side hinged and putting 2 gas struts on the cat flap.
I also bent the drip rail at the bottom of the cat flap so that there is just enough clearance to open the tailgate separately to the flap.
Now that sounds tempting to do, lose the problem of it hitting the towball without the downside of losing the cat flap, I shall look into this methinks .The best thing that I did to it was making the lower tailgate side hinged and putting 2 gas struts on the cat flap.

Sorry to Hijack (I'll edit and remove them if not appropiate, but in the spirit of getting down and dirty, a few gratuitous mud slinging pics!!
No problem at all Paul . In the spirit of your post two videos of Landies getting muddy...Disco getting dirty
Love the voices (can see Tilly in the background )
90 in the mud
and one of my old beast downhilling...
Tilly
Yep as you can see from the Tilly video I really needed to trust the engine braking rather than the brakes! Amazed me coming down the Long Mynd in 1st high that I had to accelerate down the 1:5 gradient!
Spent the day helping the Hereford 4x4 Response guys doing some training, a 110, my 109 and a Disco 2 in convoy. We got to one little climb that was knobbly enough the Disco wasn't going to risk it, I was a bit sceptical about it but followed the 110 up in 2nd low and I was at the top before I knew what was happing, she treated it with complete disdain
