I am really glad that the top gear review has come out but I am a touch disappointed. Ollie marriage made the point that he wouldn't get bigger wheels when he reviewed the litchfield one. Here he does it again. It is akin to the monthly reports of the top gear BRZ when the satnav / head unit was endlessly whinged about.
He does admit that it 'sped about the place with way more intent'. What?! As the ex owner of a 997 C2S (345 bhp and 1450kg) E36 M3 (320bhp and 1550kg) 645ci (330bhp and 1600kg) and VX220T (200bhp and 900kg), the prospect of a 1200kg coupe with 320bhp makes me think that it is going to be absolutely stunning to drive. Quick with predictable handling and low centre of gravity AND 35mpg....? I think that LordGrover's review is more representative of the car!!!!
Thank you! I do agree, I think that LordGrover's review was fantastic. I am actually really interested to see what Ollie Marriage has to say in the more in-depth review in the magazine itself. He does admit that it 'sped about the place with way more intent'. What?! Edit to add:
The necessary parts have been procured to reduce the exhaust noise - just have to get the car back to Fensport for them to be fitted, and the mapping checked in case any changes are required:

Any updates Dave?
Just a small one I have made and fitted a carbon inlet duct for my oil cooler:
Mould
Vacuum bagging the part
Off the mould
Fitted
All the air coming through (modified) FRS bumper moulding is now directed into the oil cooler.
Hot air out through the modified wheel arch liner

I Must say i have loved this thread! Ever since i saw about the gt86 getting built i have tried following it getting info. Now its out i am looking to get one myself! just getting the pennies together! I love what you have done to the car especially the sneaky air ducts behind the bumper, they are real nice! Bet you get a loads of peeps trying to burn you off? Jeal of lord being able to have a crack as it sounds a beast! But anyways just to say well done Dave with your project you should be and probably are real proud of it!
Thank you both for the nice comments The car has been great from day one - could not be happier. If I had to find one slight gripe, it is the hardness (or rather softness) of the paint. That unfortunately, though is a result of modern low VOC paint finishes.
I have had a few people try to 'burn me off', however they have had a rude awakening :-)
Depending on where you are located, kjackson88, a drive in it can always be arranged! I think the Lordgrover had a journey of approx 70 miles each way for his test drive

Hi Dave,
Just checking all's okay? Anything you'd do differently were you to do it again?
I've been speaking to Tony at Fensport and mine's going in for some mild fettling end of the month. (Given up on Litchfield - they just aren't interested)

All good, thank you Really need to update this thread, as a lot has happened to my car - AP Racing brakes, Tein active suspension, and a bit more power :-)
A bit more exposure for my car:

See now if Toyota had made the 86 look like that from day one, or even a muted version then I'd have bought on instead of an elise.
God knows how much you have pumped into it but it must be the nicest overall 86 in the country.
Than you Tim, I really appreciate your nice words As I have posted earlier, like all mass produced cars, the GT86 has been spec'ed and built to a set price budget. What I have tried to do with mine is to completely forget any sort of a budget, and see how good it could / can be (in my opinion, obviously).God knows how much you have pumped into it but it must be the nicest overall 86 in the country.

Been shopping today ?
Caught my eye this afternoon, a very very cool car. I'm a Porsche man, but your car had me drooling. Wheels epic, brakes epic, body upgrades epic. Top marks for a stunning creation.

My wife actually borrowed my car to do to the shops. At least she parked properly between the white lines
If my car has this effect on a Porsche man, then I must be doing something right

Dave, I don't suppose you know of a replacement boot spoiler, preferably similar in size/shape/design to your TRD, but with high-level LED brake light incorporated?
I'd love to lose the early noughties plastic lump in my rear window, as well as replace the ugly great **** of a spoiler.
I don't know of any TRD style spoiler with a brake light fitted, however, I could quite easily fit one of these I'd love to lose the early noughties plastic lump in my rear window, as well as replace the ugly great **** of a spoiler.

Into one of these for you

Would this meet your needs?
Thank you every one for the great comments . The good thing about the badges is they are only held on with double sided tape, so can easily be changed back. The thought behind spraying them black was two fold, one I am trying to totally de-chrome my car, and secondly, I wanted to add the T at the end for the turbo, but to keep it as subtle as possible.

Oh wow, how did I miss this thread.
OP - The GT86 looks amazing, obviously has the power to deliver now too. I see you have the tuning bug now, there is no going back.
Good to see that Adrian is still doing it, I've known Adrian since the days he was breaking Toyotas as AJS. I used to be into the Toyota tuning scene heavily, but not these days.
Having said that, my brother has a lovely TRD GT86 in black, and a UK spec AE86 which he has converted to a Trueno. I have transplanted a Supercharger engine into it, and it is undergoing a TRD N2 body kit conversion.
My brother is very keen to have the Turbo conversion done on his GT86, I have lost count of the amount of times he has talked about it. I will be sure to point him to the direction of this thread.
One more thing, how was re-mapping done? Via the OEM ECU or a MoTeC ECU? I know Adrian favoured the MoTeC system heavily, things have changed drastically in the tuning scene now though. Much can be done with OEM equipment.
Thank you Twincharge The car still used the original ECU. Using ECUTEK software, the ECU can be fully remapped. There is even the ability to add features like launch control, flat foot shifting and auto blip on down shifting, up to four different maps (selectable on the fly) and electronic boost control. Adrian is still a great fan of the MoTeC, but with the tune-ability of the standard ECU, it is just not worth the cost on a road car.OP - The GT86 looks amazing, obviously has the power to deliver now too. Just read this whole thread (found it while searching for reversing camera options to install in my GT86).
Fabulous build, and exactly in line with the ethos that Toyota planned with the car - sell an affordable, relatively basic car, and make it easy to modify to the owner's requirements.
Quick question for the OP - do you still have the car? If so, what else have you done to it? If not, what has replaced it?
Thank you for the kind words. As LordGrover stated, I have not posted on any forums for a while now - unfortunately there are too many people who use internet forums (especially the GT86 community) for their personal ego trips for me to want to be actively involved.Fabulous build, and exactly in line with the ethos that Toyota planned with the car - sell an affordable, relatively basic car, and make it easy to modify to the owner's requirements.

I still have my GT86 - it still ticks every box for me, and there is no other car currently available that would make me want me to replace it. The only 'change' I have made is to replace the Good Year tires with Michelin Pilot Super Sports.
