Cheers Lee,

EBC 330 MM brake kit ordered today !

Looking at a set of Nankang AR1’s, will get them sorted this week.
Nice! Let me know how they perform. I think if I was keeping the Fiesta long term (like you, I'm a sucker for a nice Jaaag) I'd stick a BBK on of some kind. Were the AR1s particularly expensive to get? Some people seemed to have supply issues.
Not ordered the tyres just yet, still deciding on NS2Rs, AR1s, Toyos and whatever. AR1s might be overkill, with the NS2Rs can prob leave them on over summer at least.

The brake kit was just over £1500, went back to the advert on SICO and its gone up £380 since I ordered yesterday morning ?

https://www.sico-developments.co.uk/collections/20...

I have an order form with the original price so not sure whats going on there.

Is this for track use? I’ve found i can set off the hazard flash with newish bluestuff pads and Mich PS3s, so i’m curious about the big brake kits
Yeah, did one last year at Anglesey and the standard brakes just about coped but felt like the weak link, and I gave some brand new PS5's a proper chewing. A set of YellowStuff pads were also sacrificed and the eBay special disks it had on, so another £100 set of Mintex pads and grooved eBay stuff was ordered but not spending £320 on a track day to spend it all nursing the brakes.

Then, you think need a bit more grip, so track tyres, and that extra grip means the oil is pinned to the left or right and doesnt get sucked up, so sump baffles are ready to go in.

I wince at what gets spent but after a while its sunk cost and you forget, and in the scheme of things, its not much compared to leasing some diesel VAG.

Will get it, fit it all and report back on road and then whatever track day we do. Car is staying, was looking at Jag XJs as a daily but my sums werent adding up between buying another car and doing the rest of this to the ST so chose to do one properly rather than two badly.

Hopefully the brakes arrive this week and I can get them on next weekend. Imagine the braking power will be similar, maybe better feel but its more down to the ability to dissipate heat.

After that, might look at some better, lighter seats then possibly what else I can do suspension wise, some decent coilovers, braces whatever.

And who knows, might get another engine, build it, some cams and a bigger turbo but thats a long term thought.

Maybe get some tuition as well.

Its funny, even now, you wonder why other drivers blast up straights then go all nervous in corners, had some X5 M thing blast past leaving the motorway and cut in on me, just went round like was stood still on the S bends

Made the mistake of ordering from a company called SiCo, no shipping details sent, doesnt answer messages or the phone. Its still early days but its rarer to order something and not get a notification of how and when it will arrive.

They have been around for a while but seem to have got a bit lax, paid with PayPal so should be ok, just annoying as want to get them fitted.

I may be being a bit previous but didnt do enough checks before ordering, had seen the name about for ages and looked at Companies House, been around ten years.

But they dont have a great reputation and am now fairly sure I had seen posts about them, may well be fine but doesnt seem to be good at answering and it is early days, its not really being spoilt but I know what you mean, thats the standard expected, no "Allow 28 days for delivery", things have moved on and I have sent them £1507.90 of my money so expecting a little service, its not £30 for a short shifter where you can just put it to the back of your mind.

Got a refund, made it clear that they either provide the shipping confirmation, a refund or have me haunt them forever, I mean, come on which would you choose evil

Have ordered from EBC direct, bit annoying as Olivia from EBC messaged to say its going to be a month so have suggested that their website was not exactly truthful about this prior to ordering and that they should perhaps sweeten the deal seeing as I have a track day due, well I would have booked one if the car was ready.

Took a £383 hit as prices have gone up, but, its only money silly

Will hopefully do the sump this weekend perhaps, though the wife has furniture moving plans so will see, will get some tyres ordered and look at TD dates, preferably Oulton Park as its nearest but maybe Anglessey, got relatives local we stay with.

Plan is to book my dad and two of my sons on as well, my dad did a few track days on bikes so if he is up for it he can drive, or passenger, my eldest did the last one with me and is a proper petrolhead, my middle lad isnt a massive car fan, his thing is music but hopefully he will come and have a drive, only passed his test last year. My youngest lives in Frankfurt so not really practical, and his license is auto only. Hopefully we can get it all organised and getting three generations of J4CKOs ragging my poor Fiesta to death.

Decision now is which TD tyre, or just use the PS5s that are on it ? Got a spare set of wheels so will get them mounted on them, bit scabby but will do for track wheels.

Cheers, alls well that ends well etc.

EBC have much better customer service, the very helpful Olivia is sending a set of Bluestuff pads over gratis as an apology for the delay, now that’s how to do it !

Whiteline rear Anti Roll Bar arrived today.

Planning on fitting that, the sump baffle and the EBC brake kit tomorrow. Would have been last weekend but realised the BBK needs a 20 mm spacer for the standard wheels to clear the caliper and it only has a 15mm on. Would have swapped the 20mm from the rear but the front studs where shortened to allow for the 15mm spacer (20 mm doesnt need them shortening) and not chancing not having the full thread so some new 20mm spacers and new studs have been ordered.

Will get some photos of installation, as I know that will make your weekend hehe

Think may do a shakedown run at Three Sisters in Wigan before Oulton Park as its cheap, close and if I have issues its £115 not £300 odd, not a bad little track really.

Some more progress, slower than anticipated,

Still need to do the rear pads, brake lines and then bleed the system. Sump back on, oil filled, fronts all on.

Got three aerosol cans of Waxoil and some AV30 which is an aviation protectant, will use that to brush on, maybe wire brush the subframe, basically just lash some underseal about, its not really crusty for a nine year old FIesta but think it could do with a little help now so will get that done whilst its up in the air.

Cheers !

It’s finished but during the test run, seem to have blown a boost pipe off so need to go and re attach that, don’t mind admitting it made me jump, brakes seem good but got a lot of needing in to do before I can really lean on them.

The rear anti roll bar has made a difference, very noticeable on the couple of roundabouts I have been round.

Cheers chaps, some fully finished shots, the slightly wider spacer on the front has made it look more square if you know what I mean ?

Its one of those that kind of looks standard but a standard one next to it would look quite different.

Need to book a track day when I have bedded the brakes in.

Just caught up on this, I remember reading it when you'd just got rid of your 135i and bought this, it's come a long way!!

Brakes look brilliant, I love the "standard but not" look of it, I'm very much in the less is more camp cosmetically.
Cheers, like that “Standard but not”, nicking that.

I think it’s a few small changes that sort of accentuate what they look like normally and it’s difficult to put your finger on what’s different.

Just never gelled with the BMW, maybe should have given it a chance and modded that, but would always be an auto, and whilst I like autos as a fun car it has to be manual.

Will likely get something else this year as a daily and keep this for weekends and track use.

I don’t suppose you live in the St Albans area. Last week I was a couple of cars back from an older gent leisurely driving a clearly lowered, immaculate race red ST down Coopers Green Lane?
“Older gent”, but I am only 23 ! Actually hang on that’s in my head, am 53 so that is accurate, especially in terms of Fiesta ST owners. Though there are a lot more older owners out there, think as it is similar to the stuff we had when younger but without the agro of owning a classic hot hatch, my cousin is a year younger and he has got one as well.

I am based near Manchester airport so wasn’t me.

One thing about being a bit older is you tend to have a bit more disposable income, I got married at 24 and had three kids by 29, never had the money before so it’s good to be able to do this now.

Good thread chap, kept meaning to comment being a Mk8 ST owner myself with some frightening similarities to you, 53 err yup, got married at 24? errr....yep, 3 kids...? errr yesss, I was older than you before I started though! Car looks good!

Cheers
Does sound remarkably similar, suppose its a time of life/suitable model to replicate past hot hatches and no need for a family wagon now ?

Anyway, brakes are obviously on but getting a scraping noise, had them apart but cant find any witness marks of anything touching, the clearances seem fine, appreciate as floating disks they can be a bit noisy but that clicks and spring noises as they bed in, this is a more a rhythmic scrawp that increases with speed, mainly when turning left.

Any ideas ?

Have emailed EBC.

Its driving me mad and dont really want to drive it if there is something amiss, all went in well enough.

Isn't backplates/dust shields, is it? If fitted.

Possibly some grit between a disc and hub?

Failing that, slam on the anchors from 100+ biggrin

Hopefully not run out on the discs, but they are under warranty.
Dust shields are removed as part of the install,

Have just had a dial gauge arrive so will check all is true.

There is a very complicated run in procedure, not got to anything other than fairly light braking, and to be honest its not exactly compelling me to drive it right now making all the noise, the clicks from the floating disks are fine but this sets my teeth on edge, am away for a week from Friday so it can wait until I get back now.

Brakes bedding in nicely now, not really used them too hard but its clear they have way more stopping power, you can trigger the ABS pretty easily, pedal feel is good.

Rear ARB is great, makes the car feel pointier, more cohesive but not had much chance to really find out, am conscious its changed how the car handles so want to check its not got any nasty sting in the tail so am building up, the rear feels more mobile.
