Although I have a distinct love for Roadsters having had a couple now, I would love to try and keep the 944 until these come down to £10-15k.

Thoughts on how long that depreciation will take? 4 years?

Yeah, that North American Haynes manual is the only one available for the '944.

When I had mine, I found the guides in the 'garage shop manual' section of http://www.clarks-garage.com/ to be a good compliment to the Haynes - there's plenty of useful repair and troubleshooting guides there, often with much more detail than the Haynes...

My guess is the worst will get to £15k in 4-6 years. I doubt they'll get to £10k for a very long time, if at all, since they sold so few.

I really like the 924/928/944 I would say with the amount of posts lately that it has knocked the mx5 from the top spot of pistonheads greatest cars. Lol.

Good man, great to see another one getting used smile

I bought mine when the turbo blew on my normal daily. The 944 cost less than the turbo so I've kept it and now use it daily for my commute. Great, fun little car, enough power, astonishing road holding, all round winner!

I've done 3000 miles in mine in the last 8 weeks.

You could be on to something there.

And with that in mind, would anyone like to take the next logical step up to a fire breathing Turbo model and buy mine? It’s bloomin’ gorgeous.

Plenty of copies of the original Porsche manuals on PDF float around. Vastly better than the Haynes which is not fit to wipe up oil stains with. It covers a very early US spec car. Clarkes & Pelican guides are both very useful.

The last three times I’ve bought a 944, the sellers have given me copies of the Porsche manuals and parts guides on CD. It’s a very friendly community, owning these cars!

I had an '89 2.7 as a daily driver for four and a half years. I keep thinking I should buy another, as sooner or later the prices will start going up again and in a few years time when I'm a penniless pensioner, I don't want to be reading a classic car mag feature on the 944 and thinking, "Ten grand? I sold mine for three! D'OHHH!"

While we are at it here is mine.. not as pretty as some, but used hard. It looks like a 2.5, but is actually mainly 3.0 S2 underneath.
Great handling, which is why I chose a 944 for classic tarmac rally use.

Fantastic cars. I love the fact you can use a 30 year old Porsche like a reliable, practical modern hatchback during the week and then have a classic sports car at the weekends.

I've not yet owned a 944, but I'm on my second 924 and it always amazes me that the electric mirrors and the demist aren't just present but working on a car that's older than I am.
