5.0 XK Supercharged, Granturismo 4.2 or Carrera S 3.8

Do you not find that a little uncomfortable for driving? There isn't exactly much room for the driver as it is. I guess it would be ok for short journeys though. Personally I'd still prefer the seats werent there, then it would stop adults expecting a lift from me thinking they can just squeeze in the back!
Finally I collected the car today
Rather a long drive home from the dealership in Liverpool to my home near Bath but it certainly gave me time to get used to the car. The power is just incredible, even in auto mode. Put it in sport mode, use the paddle shifters and it's like a volcano eruption every gear change!
If I was being brutally honest, I'd have to say that perhaps 510bhp is somewhat unnecessary. Maybe the standard XK with 385bhp would be enough for most people and a huge cost saving to boot. Still, I have the XKR now so....................
What really struck me driving home was actually the 30-120mph time. It really is astonishing, not to mention dangerous and licence losing!
The equipment level is way above the DB9 or vantage standard. I'm still not quite sure that a heated steering wheel is needed but everything else is well considered. I do find the satnav rather difficult to setup but that could just be me! The Bowers@Wilkins sound system is amazing around town but not quite so good on the open road due to the engine and tyre noise.
Overall I think the XKR offers unrivalled value for money. It's certainly not cheap but it's better than anything else in the £80k sports GT price bracket.
One more thing - on looks alone I think I could be tempted to go for the XKR-S next time rather than a Granturismo 4.7

Nice write up....it's always exciting getting a new car. The S/C engine in the latest R Jag's is amazing and after having 3 of them now (XFR, XKR and now XKR-S), I am somewhat in agreement on the fact that 510bhp is just rude. But good fun! The 550bhp in the R-S is surprising for 2 reasons....a) it's noticeable, which I didn't expect given the relatively small increase and b) it turns the car from ridiculous to bonkers-bordering-on-dangerous. Again, all good fun
Anyway, to comment on your last point, having previously owned this (the 4.7 GT-S)....
I can confidently state that this is better in every single way....

Took a call from Harfields this afternoon, they were just checking everything's ok etc.
However, during the conversation I happened to mention that I now regret not going for the XKR-S. Well the salesman then excitedly told me he has an year old ex Jaguar directors car in French Racing Blue due in and would I like it?!
Now, he's offering almost what I paid for mine in PX so it's makes for good man maths but should I do it? Why not? Well, because 'er indoors' will go loopy and I want to drive the F Type.
Anyone have a clue when the F Type coupe will be released?

The 2012 RS certainly looks much better than previous years'. Although I don't understand why Jaguar can't include proper brakes for a car like that. Anyway, handling is not as good as the looks unfortunately... Youtube Top Gear and 5th Gear reviews.
For that money I'll get a 2011 Nissan GTR. Better in every sense.

The XKR-S would indeed make a wonderful stop-gap until I can try the F Type coupe. However, I purchased another propert at auction yesterday (Friday) so I need to concentrate on that for the next few months!
Then again, XKR-S in French Racing Blue........ It's a bl@@dy lovely car and good value (relatively speaking)!

I think it is possible that JLR have stolen Aston's crown as the purveyors of the best looking cars on sale today. That RS looks majestic, the F-Type is gorgeous; and while I know beauty is in the eye of the beer-holder, I humbly submit that the XJ is a fantastic-looking bit of kit.
And don't get me started on the interiors.
