1985 Ford Granada Ghia X Estate
Discussion
Great thread. Old fan belt driven water pumps do have loads of bolts, I've just done my landrover's.
I love old Granadas, my cousin bought one for about 100quid, sold the plate for twice that. Nice comfy car, and rather stylish.Did they come with a 2.3 engine?
Incidentally it's very much an old money type car. Real upper class people don't tend to waste money buying a new car every couple of years, they'll use the same old workhouse they've had for decades. I once worked for an earl who owned thousands of acres and a thirty million pound fortune. He drove a bright green Cortina.

Yes in the MKII Granny they did 2.3s and 2.8s with a carb, plus the 2.8i with FI.They were a great car, looked smart, very comfortable but also handled well - just not particularly quick! The 2.8 Ghia Auto I had didn't really feel any quicker than a 2.0L manual I had some years later!
This one has the 2.8 Cologne engine with a single carburetor. It is brisk rather than quick. It winds up well on the motorway. The handling is surprisingly good for such a long and heavy car.
I am a chippy oik and about as new money as it gets, but I quite like having grotty old cars. Toffs are very sensible in keeping their stuff for ages. The relentless rush for new motors is daft.
