Hi all,

Ive been trawling the barge threads a lot recently and the temptation finally got the better of me yesterday. I went out looking yesterday and ended up with a 1998 red XJ Sport. Its a one owner car with only 78k on it. Its got a full Jag service history and a massive file of every receipt / mot / service. Its in lovely condition for the age.

Interior on the sport model is really really nice. I much prefer it to the walnut of the regular version:

So comfortable too. Its more comfortable than my sofa!

Heres a front view next to my other British car. Bit of a contrast here:

and heres the little v8:

So far, loving it. So smooth, so quiet, so comfy. A good start to barge ownership. Only £300 to insure as well biggrin

Need to get some better pics.

Seems strange to me when I look at that lovely V8 without a big supercharger stuck on the top. Great barging

Beautiful. Carnival red and Oatmeal leather are by far and away the best colour combination too imo yes

Try something like this if you have an iPod, they work well!

It was up for £2500 which is strong money for one of these. I got it for £2200 which is more than I was planning on spending but this one was worlds apart from the others I looked at. It really is an immaculate car, 1 owner with a massive history file and only 74k on the clock (despite what I said above). After seeing how much nicer this one was than the others I looked at I decided to go for it with the extra money. Just took it out for a couple of hours drive and its lovely. So nice on the motorway! Mrs fell asleep in the passenger seat as its so comfy.

Bought one of those iphone transmitter thingys so thats music sorted.

Very very happy with my purchase.

Looks great, lots of these around at the moment on here!

A mate picked up a very similar Sport last weekend and the slight de-chroming and nicer interior really helps to bring these up to date a bit.

How many miles has yours done? He paid half what you did but is currently working through a list of brake parts and tyres to replace along with the fact its had one side painted. 99k though and it also needed a new bonnet which we sourced for £60 which was pretty good.

Mines on 74k miles. I did pay a high price but its one owner, MOT till JAN 12, nearly new tyres all round and the spare. Full main dealer service history with the latest service only a couple of thousand ago. Theres pretty much nothing that needs spending on it for now. Its even had a bit of welding and a full underseal very recently. I feel ive made back the extra I paid in jobs that dont need doing.

Sounds about right smile

Just been out in the above mentioned car and its now missing 4x exhaust boxes so sounds quite fruity! Its too loud really as it makes some of the interior rattle at some speeds.

Its also now sitting on some XJR Penta's with nearly new Pirelli Asimmetrico's compared to the 8 year old P6000's it had.

Looked at a couple of XJR Sports before buying an X-Type a few weeks ago. I wanted the XJR - swmbo said it was too big, too powerful & looked like an old mans car.....

Couldn't change her mind hence the X-Type. For now anyway!

Still might get myself into one as will probably sell the BMW & then get myself an XJR.

They are cracking cars & I want one in my life soon.

Great purchase. If you decide to sell it PM me & you might have a buyer!

Check in the boot - that's where I found my cd change hiding as thought I didn't have one. I know you probably have already looked however just thought I'd mention it.

Faceplate adaptor + steering wheel control adaptor + cd mp3 head unit. That's my solution and I wouldn't be without it. There are plenty of head units that play from usb/sd card which is a great way to load up your car with music eg clicky
