JTW's first Private car in ages - Saab 9-3 :)
Discussion
I've got a new car, the company car is going so I hunted for a car and got this - A 57 plate SAAB 9-3 with a ton of receipts, 83k, cambelt/waterpump/tensioner done 6k ago, 8 stamped services.
Goes well - A couple of niggles: The leather creaks a bit, when I close the door there's an odd rattle and the steering feels light (but that could just be me)

The PH numberplate was a bonus

Cambelt? Is it a diesel??
They all creak and squeak. They give off a feeling of being well-made, while managing to rattle more than the average Peugeot inside. The steering is very light, and numb in feel. Fitting poly bushes to the wishbones sharpened mine up a little bit, but it's still very....Vauxhall-ish. The ride in mine is woeful too. Tried fitting some Eibach lowering springs, as these are reportedly softer than the Saab factory Sport springs. They aren't! It's more composed now, but the ride is still bad.
Still a good looking saloon though. Can't think of anything that size/shape made since that looks better, aside from possibly the 159. Mines Nocturne Blue, but yours looks lighter I think?

Urgh, idiot - Forgot to say - it's the 1.9 Diesel Vector Sport (150bhp)
It does look good, and I was aware of the creaks anyway - I'm tempted to lower it a bit to see if that firms it up as it's a little floaty (definitely not sporty - but that's ok, I'm 40, sporty rides aren't my thing any more)

I just got an 06 version of yours, mine was £1200 with 110,000 miles and all new decent tyres, I just find it a bit dull, you get a slight bit of get up and go at about 2200rpm then its all over
doesn't seem to like drinking fuel much though,
Petrol turbo? Mine's the same - power comes in a lump, like a diesel, but is pretty fair on fuel. Mine's the 1.8T with a Hirsch remap, about 180bhp but averaging 28mpg in extreme urban conditions at the mo. Can nudge 40mpg on a run, which is pretty good. It is a bit dull though, I agree.doesn't seem to like drinking fuel much though,
They are great cars, I picked a 2004 2.0T Petrol up a couple of months ago as a second car and I love driving it. Mine squeaks and creaks over speedbumps which I'll investigate when I have the chance.
I did the badges on mine, de-cacked the headlights, changed the rear discs and pads, front tyres and all in it still cost me under £1500 which I think is a lot of car for the money! You will get much better economy than me - I'm averaging around 30mpg at the moment.
