Thanks and I'm keeping my fingers crossed with the camera. This is easily the most expensive car we've had tyre wise for sure, and in the past to think that I used to moan at the price of runflats on BMWs! A lot of travelling with work miles wise, and it is also used as the main family car as well. Had the new MPS4S tyres fitted to the fronts this morning, and it is nice to have MPS4S all round on the car now. The original Pirelli P Zero lasted 34k miles so not bad at all I thought.
The chap at the tyre fitters said that I'd be amazed at how many folk buy nice cars but then skimp on tyres on them. He said that the Michelins aren't cheap, but he said they are a really good tyre though.
I noticed that the tyres have gone up in price by £60 since I ordered them as well.

I laugh every day when I see a porsche macan at the daughters nursery running Winrun tyres on it. It goes through my mind that anyone looking at it to buy should he sell it, will run a mile when the see the tyres have been skimped on and wonder what else!
Definitely! 
The lads at the tyre place were both lovely about the car and I thought that it was really kind of them to say positive things about it. One of them said that he isn't usually bothered about cars because he sees so many, but he did really like the car though.
I'm also chuffed that I've got Michelins on all of the cars now too, and I think that I can safely say that I'm a bit of a Michelin fanboy to be fair!
Just an update to say that the windscreen cameras are still working fine(touchwood), and it is the longest run with them working I think, so that is good news. I'm really happy with the MPS4S tyres too, but then I do tend to be pretty biased when it comes to Michelins though!
It will be interesting to see what we end up replacing it with when the time comes I reckon. The facelift GLE has jumped up a fair bit price wise for a like for like car, but that would be the obvious replacement really, so we shall see.

Nice looking car , I’ve often thought about replacing our cayenne diesel we have with one of these , but after reading your thread I am put off a little ! And I thought the cayenne tyres were expensive.wow ! And as you say , has this car just got too much technology, but then I guess all of the top makes do , makes a 2014 cayenne seem very basic .

Thanks. You can get the GLE with either 20"(AMG line) or 21"(Premium) wheels which are a bit smaller and not quite as wide as the 22"(Premium Plus) ones on ours. So I'd imagine they are a bit cheaper to buy in comparison.
We tend to feel the tyre cost because of the mileage we do though. By the end of this week it will be well over 36k miles and its only 16 months old, but if you're not doing too many miles then the tyres will last I reckon.
There is a lot of tech on it as you say, some of it is nice, but some of it is annoying in fairness!
I really wish Porsche still used diesel engines, because I've always really liked the idea of a Cayenne diesel myself for sure.

The handling commented on may have been springs not air. I found the drive very different compared to the AMG lines I drove.

Yours looks lovely and I love to see them dechromed. I'd love to experience the petrol 6 cylinder twin turbo that is in it big time as well.
No more plans for ours at the moment, although I'd never say no to a cheeky remap for it though!
I've just ordered 2 more new rear tyres for it, so that will be 4 sets of tyres that it will have had on the rear, and it isn't even 2 years old until next April!
I've gone for the MPS4S again, and they have lasted 6 months/15k miles, so not terrible when you consider the Continentals only last 3 months/6k miles in comparison I reckon.
The last set of rear MPS4S cost me £510 each, however I've managed to get them for £403 each this time though. So that is a bit better I think(but still pricey for tyres though when you consider that I've recently purchased 4 new tyres for the Caterham and they only cost £200 for all 4!).
The car is almost on 42k miles now, so it is still racking the miles on to be fair.

A pretty big driving day yesterday in it at 8 hours and 285 miles. It is booked in for its 3rd service the week after next, so I will only have 1 more service after that covered by the service plan.
I got invited to a sales event at Merc this weekend, however we are still happy with it though. Plus it has lost a small fortune in depreciation, so I'm not sure if we will go brand new again with a car going forward in fairness.
We will probably keep the car for 3 years and have a think about a change then, unless circumstances dictate something different.

44k since April ‘22 is bloody good commitment, well done. I wouldn’t swap now either, as you say I bet the depreciation is savage, and a new one won’t really offer anything better.
On the flipside, our neighbours have a 66 plate GLE450. Had it from new. Sounds great, and it’s done… 22k

Don't wind me up!
Had an eventful week with the car. Last Friday my missus was driving it and it threw up a amber coolant warning light, and it also threw up an amber engine warning light too. Plus it put the car into limp mode, and the turbos were disengaged as well. It also put the engine fans on full blast, and it sounded like an airplane taking off!
The RAC were supposed to be coming out to it on last Thursday night, but they didn't turn up. So I chased them up on Friday morning and they arrived on Friday afternoon thankfully. When the chap plugged it into his laptop, it said there was a fault with a sensor on the intercooler.
He was going to arrange a flatbed for it the following day, but he said it might not turn up. So he suggested that he followed me to Merc in the car. Plus after the car had been sat for a day the fans had gone off and it wasn't in limp mode anymore, but it just had an amber engine light on it. It drove fine on the way to Merc in fairness too.
Merc then looked at it on Monday, and they said they couldn't find anything wrong with it! They just did a software update on it and everything went back to normal on it.
While it was on the ramp the technician noticed a screw in the rear tyre, which I was quite disappointed about because I'd only put those rear tyres on at the end of October. However I said order me a tyre anyway to be on the safe side, even though it wasn't actually losing any air.
The tyre was due to arrive the next day, however the donkeys ordered a front tyre for it instead of a rear tyre(the fronts are 285/40/22, whereas the rears are 325/35/22). So I said don't bother because I needed the car back for work. So when I get chance I'll look at sorting the rear tyre out myself instead.
I just presume that the car had just had a hissy fit for some reason, and all being well it will behave itself going forward. I will update if anything changes.

The car had done 260 miles(and counting) today and it had behaved itself to be fair. However the amber coolant warning light is now back on and it has gone back into limp mode again! So it will be going back into Merc again then! Luckily my missus had ordered a little 118i loan car through work until the 31st of December, so she'll be back in that again tomorrow.
We're both a bit peed off that Merc couldn't find anything wrong with it when it was in, when clearly there is a problem with it. On reflection when we take the rose tints off, this car has been a pain in the backside overall in all honesty, and we haven't had the best of luck with it in fairness. It is frustrating to say the least.

How bloody annoying. I agree too, an issue which is the fixed I can deal with. Recurrent ones really cheese me off, and I drive crap old cars that I fix myself.
Hopefully when Mercedes get their arses in gear and have it back they can effect a proper repair.

Funnily enough Jake, we both said to each other tonight what an easy ride the 350 was in comparison. That was such a straight forward car that soaked up the miles and it just got on with it. The 400 is just far too tech laden for its own good I think. Hopefully when Mercedes get their arses in gear and have it back they can effect a proper repair.

The 350 did almost a 100k miles without a single issue, whereas the 400 has only done 47k miles(and isn't even 2 years old until next April) and it is proving challenging already.
We're both just really disappointed in all honesty, and hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we'd have been far better hanging onto the 350 and putting another a 100k miles on that I reckon instead.
