MK2 Golf VR6 Turbo
Discussion
Hello this is my new toy! picked it up last Saturday. had a very fun filled first week together.
So forgive the crappy shots. She's a proper beast, MK2 1986 golf with a 2.8 VR6 dropped in. It has been bored out too 2.9 with lumpy cam's, forged internals, and a Garret T3 hybrid. runs 2 maps on the Emerald k3 management. first map is 300bhp and the second, 350bhp with 380 foot pounds.

thanks guy's. well for the moment its staying as is. few cosmetic tweaks. and it needs a good detail at a bodyshop. and as soon as the I have collected enough, of the queens finest it will get a quafie LSD fitted. distant future has to be 4WD and more power or drop the engine in the back and rear wheel drive.
in previous life she was a show car "oxford edition" (the famous Dub peeps)hence all the hard to keep clean polished engine bits. the main styling tweak Im thinking of is a MK1 chin spoiler. I think it would go with the westy front better. as for silly low offset wheels even if I wanted to the wont get over the brakes.
thanks Guys
yeah the manifold is custom. and so is the zorst. I am not sure on the zorst manifold though.
as for the loud pedal well I have only been messing about with the 300hp map (this is plenty) as it's setup for 95RON but as and when I am feeling brave. 99ron will going in for the top map. needs the LSD though it has a wee bit of torque steer!

Quick update. had a big moment last night under heavy braking! So after an underwear change, I found the compensator valve fully open!
A lowered stripped out MK2 with MK4 callipers on the rear and a fully open compensator valve. is the same as having a hydro drift spec handbrake, It would appear. anyway will get some photos tomorrow.

OP, awesome car, well done.
fwiw I think the wheels worked better in silver (and I have dark wheels myself) but it does look more of a sleeper with black.
well there are a few main reasons the wheels are that colour. firstly they needed a refurbishment badly. the cost of the original machined finish for one wheel would be more than all 4 in anthracite. I need the money for a LSD/4wd not sure yet.
also the shiny silver powder coat just didn't do it for me.
I also love the steel wheels the problem is getting them over the front callipers.

Pulled 315bhp and 350Lbft with a faulty actuator only holding 8psi of boost. all sorted now holding upto 15psi.

Ok then, a little update.
third gear looks to have let go last Monday, boy did it go with bang. the new gear box should be with me tomorrow, with a lovely new Quaife diff. that should help the torque steer! also going to get the map adjusted in the hope of getting her running better.
I will get some pictures done as soon as I get the car back but I have also updated the interior with some stock door cards and proper bucket seats, and screwed in the sub and amp properly so its not bouncing around. oh and the silly show cage has been removed to.

That looks like the original Oxford Edition mk2 built around 10-15 years ago if memory serves me correctly
Changed a little since then with the turbo kit and Westmorland front end
yeah it certainly is, good spot. slowly getting the car the way I want it. be pretty much their for this phase, eventually it will be a lot more powerful and AWD. 345hp is a lot for the front wheels, hoping the new diff is all its cracked up to be. Changed a little since then with the turbo kit and Westmorland front end

edit I have to magazine it was featured in, in 1996/97 I think, I will post pics of the page when I get home.

Bloody hell that was the first ever issue of PVW i bought when i was a young lad, i never realised it was featured in that issue
Nice to see its still alive, many of these cars seem to disappear and never come back
wow really! I cant see any issue numbers on the copy's of PVW I have to hand. Nice to see its still alive, many of these cars seem to disappear and never come back
that's crazy though, I am not even a real VW fan. I find the scene guys really clicky too. I bought the car as I was fed up of my boggo Z4 and it had a monster engine with a great chassis setup to manage it.

Glad the bumpers have been changed from how they started Andy, although I think I prefer the original lights, again changed I think before you came to the car.
This car certainly has caught your attention, normally in the time you have owned this one, you would be considering buying your third car!
yeah your right Mark. no idea why I like it so much I guess because its so fast and easy to mess about with keeps me entertained, gets me out of the way of the DIY to. I will take you out once the get the box sorted. This car certainly has caught your attention, normally in the time you have owned this one, you would be considering buying your third car!
