Won a car on Ebay that is a bit of a weird one.

Have been looking for a while for something to potter about in and saw this Proton Satria Gti, for sale, the owner wanting a quick sale.

Made a unseen bid, £610 + £22 Rail and Bus fare later, a 230 miles round trip, I am now the owner of a car with a few Lotus Badges on it smile

Full service history, recent stainless exhaust, HPI clear, 3 previous owners, and 10 months mot and 4 months tax. Not bad so far.

So points to note on journey back, exhaust is quite loud, a few random rattles inside the cabin along with some fading and some slight rust areas on back window. A very 'real' driving experience.

plus points, The car is nippy and has a very low seating position thus far handles fairly well. (on motorways)

I will tidy up the outside a bit and sell the Halfords aftermarket DVD/CD player.

Now looking for a Evo Mrk 3 turbo to bolt on smile

ohh the best bit, the previous owner paid £1200 3 months ago for it. I also have the orginal receipt for the first buyer, £12,999 in 2001..

Always liked these, nice purchase!
It is a shock thou, being used to a refinement offered by my 2007 Corsa wink, this feels like stepping back 20 years, but I have read about them, and for the money nothing else compares.

Yeah, sorry, it wasn't meant as a criticism. I like it, reminds me of something else too but I can't quite place it.

I have been reading the owners club forum and as the engine is basically a evo 3 without the turbo, there are quite a few tuning options available. A turbo kit brand new is a grand from the US OR £350 second hand.

It is basically a Mitsubishi colt underneath.

Looked at these a few years ago, looks tidy and a bargain buy!

Aren't they a bit steep insurance wise? - Something daft like a group 16 / 17?
group 31 whatever that means, so about 13-14 old system but most cars i have had are around this mark.

They offered a dealer fit Eaton supercharger kit for these

I test drove a proton coupe evolution when they first came out - produced to homologate a race series would you believe! Quite a decent steer from what I remember
There seems to be a lot of mods available, just deciding what to do with it whether keep it for a few months and track day it. I had a bit of lift off going round a slight corner, felt very old school.
