Hey guys thought i might as well put up a thread about my car, now keep in mind that im a student so modifications will be slow but they will surely come and ill post my car as it evolves with everything i do, oh and also guys im not the most technical person about cars so just keep that in mind if i say anything wrong or stupid smile

My car is only the 1 litre version so i decided that right now there isnt much point doing anything to the engine as its only a wee baby engine! and so basically every mod ive done is just for the looks.

One of the first things i did was put in a subwoofer of course! main reason why i got this was because i went to the slam tent at Titp enough said >biggrin

After getting a bit bored of the standard alloys that i had on my car i started looking up for aftermarket ones , after 2 hours of looking i had already decided which alloys i wanted!

Momo Corse alloys biggrin

Brand : Momo
Model : Corse
Width : 7.5J,
Diameter : 17 Inch
Bolt Pattern : 4x114.3
Offset : 35
Colour : Black , Polished
Style : Polished Lip , Twin 7 Spoke

and here they are on the car :

I had a huge problem trying to fit these beasts on as even though the website that i had bought them from said it would fit, they actually didnt!!!
the back of the alloy was scraping into the break calipers, i phoned up the company that i bought them off and they phoned momo about it and they were even surprised themselves so basically i was the guinea pig .... for my troubles though they sent out free spacers so i could fit them on , the first pair that came were too small and the back of the alloys still scrapped so they then sent off another pair of spacers this time thankfully they fitted without scraping!

My next idea for my car was then to change the front grille. there were the Irmscher types but they were a crazy price so i decided to go for the cheapy unknown black grille: This was a scary experience sawing away the original grille!

was pretty pleased with the results!

The next small project was tinting the windows after about 5 attempts i was only able to get the back two side windows done the very back window was basically impossible because of how much it curved (might of also been because i bought cheap tinters...):

The lights were next! after about £90 worth of blue fake bulbs i decided to buy new head lights because i wasnt happy with the way the lights looked so i bought myself some crazy set of headlights that basically had every style of light u could think of ! :

oh also added a wee cheeky sticker and yes i know its immature but its just for a laugh smile :

Right got the coil overs put on a couple of days ago got some pics up here but none that are good quality right now.

Tell me what u think guys also can give me some constructive criticism.

Subwoofer is fine I suppose...
But the wheels look st too big for the car would need lowering and then it would still look st just stick some SXI wheels on it or something. The front lights wtf are they just ruin the car completely ruin it and makes you look like a little chavvy boy racer. Oh and the sticker wtf is that did you seriously think that was a good idea?

Just stick some OEM SXI wheels on maybe a 30mm drop and leave the grille and if you really want get the windows tinted properly as they always look st when you do it yourself and then just leave it until you can afford to insure a faster car. Honestly don't waste money making what was a fairly nice albeit slow hatchback into a chavvy piece of st.

Oh but the priority is the removal of the sticker smile

Stick around though is a good website just trying to be cruel to be kind and put you off spending loads on the car as you will just look back one day otherwise and think wtf have I done...
haha well ur right about how the wheels look a bit too big right now but ive just bought my coil oovers of my car they can go from 20mm down to 100mm so probs going to set it at 45 and see how it looks then and no! i love my sticker haha! its only a little joke not meaning it to be serious smile

Ah so you have already spent another £500 on suspension for your 1.0 car...
Honestly mate just stop spending the money and wait till you can insure something quicker plus with all the costs these modifications will add to your insurance plus the cost of the parts you could have probably brought and insured a corsa vxr for similar...
they were £200 but thats not the point , im not trying to get my car faster right now just tying to make it different from all the rest and i enjoy it man my insurance for the car actually went down when i added all the mods strangely too haha so it now sits at £450 a year and for my being 18 thats not too bad man , another thing is i did check for bigger cars but they are still very harsh for when it comes to bigger engines

I don't like doing this but... I'm calling you a liar. No way your insurance is legit paying £450 a year at 18 as the main driver with modifications AND points!

I'm 18 and just renewed my insurance on my car, ok it's a 1.6 but I'm £857 with NO points NO modifications and in a A+ Postcode!
the reason why we got it cheaper is that my whole family is on the multi car policy if i didnt do that the cheapest i would of got it for was £740 and do remember that the corsa 1 lite is the lowest band insurance group or it may be 2 with the new system

Meh...still it can't be just £450 on his car unless there's some dodgy maths involved. To put my wife who got her license for 2 years on my multicar policy still cost me a significant amount.

lol i can promise u guys it is i see the bill in all honesty i think it was cos they needed to meet a quota or something so gave us a good price keep in mind they got 4 cars with this policy my sisters my car and both my parents cars so they got a lot of extra business any ways lol why would i lie would be no point to lie

With four cars, he might be right. But I very much doubt that all the mods are declared.

Insuring my 3rd car on a multicar policy was so cheap it was almost silly not to, but declaring the mods really bumped up the price.[/quote

I know insurance had all the mods included when we phoned up they asked and we told them every mod it had smile

What make are the coilovers? How did they break? Not sure I'd be fitting them to my car of they can't survive manufacturing or transport.
they are JOM Coilovers not actually sure if the the prong parts are needed of if they are just there for fitting the piping and cabels but if u look at the bottom of the coil overs a part is bent at like 30 degrees. i dont see how it was damaged in the transport of it so must of been carelessness at the work shop or something frown

Those prongs and eyelets will be for your flexi hoses and ABS sensor wires id imagine.

I put 40mm drop apex springs on standard shocks on my integra. They were perfect, even on track.

I presume the coilovers have adjusters on them? Make sure you get them all in the middle and then back them of softer a few clicks. There's no point in rock solid suspension with the stty roads we have.

If it was me I'd be returning them and using less money on springs. You may even be able to get some shocks with lowered spring on fleabay or through a corsa forum?
Cheers for the info man , yea thats true there is a lot of roads that are pretty ste.

Not sure why you bought the subwoofer. I think the bass is already pretty good considering what it is. Unless you wanna cruise around with some bangin' choons giving people a headache and generally making everyone hate you.

Having said that, with the rest of the mods, it does seem like making everyone hate you was your aim so ah well.

At the end of the day a Corsa is still a Corsa, I've never once felt mine needed modifying especially when this sort of thing is the result.

No matter how little you've spent on it that money could definitely have been spent on anything else for a better result.
The low end of the speakers is terrible thats why i got it, not because i want to make people have sore heads.

Its alright, just referencing a thread yonks ago about a kid who put the back seats down in his corsa to make it faster! That was the worst thing he did, but there was a multitude of st mods done to it.

You've put up with the banter well though, most people throw their toys out the pram by now. Kudos.
really!?

yea wasnt too bothered to be honest was more just surprised about how many people were talking about it. haha

My mate had JOM Coilovers on his Golf GTTDi and they were utter ste, came with a 2 year warranty though so when they burst (every three months) he'd send them back get a new set and use them for 3 months. They issued a new warranty everytime so he just kept on doing it!
haha ohh man well at least ill be working on my car more often !

By the time the op has paid of his 12k glorified lawnmower it'll be worth peanuts. What an idiot
The way im doing this is that everything i have done can be changed back to the original gear for instance the front grill was done with another bumper , so i still have the origional bumper to put back onto it and ive kept the old suspension so i can replace it when selling it. Basically when i sell it the car will be original again .
