After watching everyone else driving around in Fiesta ST's for far too long, I decided it was time to get one. We already have a Mk7 Fiesta Zetec-S 1.6 Ti-VCT and its a great car but I needed more power..It has the style pack which is the Rado Grey wheels, illuminated kick plates, red calipers, being the ST-3 is has pretty much every option you would want, most importantly cruise control which I cant live without after having it in my ST220.

Molten Orange had to be the colour, we already have a white Fiesta and a Imperial Blue Mk5 Zetec-S, seeing the colour in the flesh is the only way to appreciate it, but not everyone will like it!

I have already done an exterior detail and seal with Menzerna Powerlock, I thought it looked shiny when we picked it up but this takes it to the next level with depth and flake pop, also did the wheels at the same time, I want to avoid using any chemicals to get them clean.

Overall 330 miles in am very impressed, I knew what to expect but the completeness of the package is what makes it, it was worth waiting all those years for Ford to bring it out.

Not really comparable apart from both being branded as ST's and both Ford's! The Fiesta is no compromise hot hatch fun, I find the ride a bit choppy but it is getting better, for someone wanted to re-live a bit of your youth its ideal, the engine is very flexible so its easy to drive fast without trying.

The Mondeo is a fast cruiser which does transform the more you push it, considering its size it does get round corners very well and the smooth revving engine loves revs, but being short stroke, revs is what you must give it to make fast progress but its very rewarding and easily has legs on the smaller Fiesta at higher speeds.

No, you won't get long lasting results like that with a can.

I used red scotchbrite to key the plastics and adhesion promoter to allow the high build primer to stick to the raw plastic, 3 coats , 25 minute bake in the oven, cool down then flat with 500 and red scotch again, 3 light coats of Panther black and two wet coats of clearcoat , full 30 minute bake and rock solid ready to refit.

Love the orange Fiesta. I'm 52...do you think I could get away with it? Not sure the wife would approve!
You're never too old to have fun. Drive one and see if you like it.

Went Santa Pod last Sunday, last 1/4 mile of the year, it was packed and we didn't get many runs in, had to wait two hours after the 1st one!

With a poor launch we still managed a 14.7 @ 96 mph, spec was Bluefin stage 2, GGR induction and Airtec intercooler, tried sports mode to keep the wheelspin down but it was detecting slip in 3rd and cutting the power back so best time was ESC off. With more practice and a better launch it should be able to run a 14.4 in current spec.

http://youtu.be/4-EX4ySG6Rc

Wheel hop was also a problem on some launches, a Cobb rear lower mount should solve that issue too.

We also have a full 3 inch Scorpion system being fitted today with a 200 cell sports cat..the 2.5 inch cat back system is worth up to 8bhp on its own so this one with a sports cat should see some good gains.

Looks very good.
Look at Cobb's own YouTube content for the engine mount, before and after. Removes the knock on hard acceleration, but can increase cabin vibration.

I LOVE my ST, which I've had since March. smile
It's now fitted and virtually unnoticeable extra vibration at idle, more so with AC but not intrusive , will improve as material beds in.

It's been so long since I updated this that I struggled to find it! It appears also that the picture I posted on Page 1 is now a google favourite for Fiesta ST Molten Orange search tags..

I've now don 11k miles in the car, and its seen some serious changes not that you would notice externally!

After being unhappy with the Bluefin, the main issue being limp mode I found a company called Peron who have been intrumental in taking the car in the direction I wanted. What started off with their Stage Two P2XX calibration has now gone to the next level..

P2XX was their calibration combined with their own superstock intercooler and ITG Maxogen induction, I combined this with a Scorpion sports cat and Milltek cat back, which takes power to 233bhp and 270lb ft, depending on the dyno fan this set up has seen 237bhp and 280lb ft!

It was a great bit of kit, zero lag, very linear, perfect driveability, I couldnt fault it, but I had the option of more.

We now have a Stage Three, Superstock Hybrid Turbo combined with their own calibration. I've been lucky enough to help test this in Beta stage and have been using a low boost map for a few months, itself very impressive.

Last week I was sent a new calibration with higher boost, more load, increased rev limit, and its astonishing.

My friends car runs the same set up, and this gives 250 WHP (so a good 280+bhp) and over 300lb ft! And i still retains OEM driving characteristics, there is just a smidge more lag but no more than a standard car and it pulls very hard to beyond 7k. They really are a superb company and deal with the likes of Litchfield and AET.

I've kept the car looking standard visually, apart from a few subtle badges and the lower grille removed, it looks like a normal one. I have junked the OEM Bridgestones for Goodyear Asymmetric 2 's all round which has improved grip in all conditions and as a bonus, its quieter and rides smoother too.

We now have plans for a bigger hybrid, and its also time for an LSD although it handles the power really well, this will help round tight corners. A bespoke full recirculating DV set up will be going on, possibly Tarox 300mm 6-pots, and possibly a suspension change. All exciting stuff which could see us hitting 300bhp. From a 1.6!

Keep reading great things about Peron and their Fiesta kits.

We have had our ST just over a year now and once the finance is all paid next year it will be modification time with this looking to be a strong contender.

I know Revo Stage 3 uses the Peron spec turbo, guessing their mapping is going to offer a better solution all round and their customer after care seems to be amazing.
Peron customer service is even better! The Hybrid that Revo sold was a first generation superstock by Peron, Peron now have their own version only available through them, and the P2XX Hybrid map to go with it.

I have to say I did consider Revo before going to Peron but didn't want to follow the crowd. Charlie Orpen AKA Mr Peron, would be more than happy to go through all the changes that they make for this brilliant fast road package, his passion and knowledge is very obvious when you speak to him! His email is charlie@peron-automotive.co.uk and website http://perontuned.co.uk/, tell him Gareth sent you!

Their new, V2 Hybrid takes it a step further and yet remains a bolt on upgrade, no changing of manifolds here, it's important to these guys that it looks OEM in its execution which is exactly how I like things.

Here is the Beta map (which is now available)

The torque curve has been kept as flat as possible to give a broad spread of power, and its also been mapped in such a way to keep stresses to the clutch to the minimum and eliminate surge, a common problem as many tuners base the stage three map on stage two, Peron started from scratch to ensure perfect driveability.

First track day complete at Snetterton this week, a big eye opener and a lot to learn but the important things - 1. Didn't crash 2. Wiped the floor with many cars and overtook a Golf R on the Bentley straight!

It performed brilliantly, but at this power level we will need to make some changes, which does include a Quaife diff, some bigger brakes, as we are capable of hitting 125mph down both straights the little 280mm single pots are not many enough, Meister R coilovers with adjustable camber and damping to reduce some of the body roll and set up to be more stable on the back end, and then maybe some track tyres.

Here is a fly-by as seen from the pitlane.

The past couple of months has seen some big changes to give improved performance on track without compromising its road manners.

We have added the following -

Quaife ATB ~ This has now helped on tighter corners on circuit but is still limited by the tyres and the huge amount of torque we are running. It does help on your favourite B road too, pulling you out of corners and reducing wheelspin. Worthwhile doing when at this power level.

Tarox 6-pot calipers and 300mm FS2000 upgrade ~ On the road the standard brakes are up to the job. If you get fade on the road then you are driving too fast! But on track, especially the two long straights at Snetterton, the standard single pot 280mm brakes start to feel out of their depth, with a soft pedal developing as a warning you're on their limit. This kit combined with Carbone Lorraine RC6 pads has completely transformed them, every aspect from cold bite, pedal feel and travel are superb, they suit the weight of the car perfectly and money very well spent if you're an enthusiastic driver. And they look sexy too.

Team Dynamic Pro Race 1.2's ~ Needed to clear the larger calipers on the front. Offset is ET38 from stock ET 47.5, same 7 inch width, improves the look of the car and doesn't look aftermarket at all, I painted these in nice gunmetal colour and I think they look awesome!

PERON 76mm Downpipe ~ Replacing my Scorpion sports cat which wasn't flowing enough for the currecnt power level. IT's 200 cell, but the diameter of the monolith was too small, hence the change. This has changed the exhaust note but no change to the volume and gives a harder edge. And it definitely feels stronger throughout the rev range.

Boomba Racing Short shift adapter ~ Reduces the throw by 20% and has some added weight, gearchanges are really slick now and where it should of been from factory.

Meister R Coilovers ~ Great bit of kit. Has helped no end when pushing on, much more stable at the back, I can really push on now with confidence and when the back does become more mobile, I can use it to my advantage.

Boomba racing catch can PCV side ~ Added to reduce the amount of breather fumes going into the engine. Modern D.i engines can suffer from inlet valve clogging which reduces performance. Reducing any breather fumes going into the engine also helps ensure no dilution of the fuel octane. Very little oil collected so far, a great sign!

TRC Front splitter ~ Just a subtle cosmetic add on to finish the look of the front end, some may not like it, but I do!

PERON P3XX Large Intercooler ~ Not strictly needed but its a total work of art! And the car is driven very hard, so it certainly won't do any harm! Fits perfectly with no alterations. Need to modify the upper grille so the core is more visble.

Mountune RMM ~ Replaces a Cobb RMM, a bit softer and compliant, just me trying to get the right compromise between improved drivetrain control and NVH, and its spot on.

We now have matching rear brakes, Tarox F2000 disc with Strada pads to compliment the front. I've also changed the front pads to RC5+ as they should suit road use a bit better than the RC6.

To expose the larger intercooler I have installed a Zunsport grille, no hiding it now!

More tyres, I've gone back to my old favourite, the Michelin PS3. The Uniroyals didn't stand up too well to track abuse and clearly had some severe sidewall flex on the fronts, so I had to replace them, only 400 miles in! I also like both axles to have matching tyres so the rears have been replaced too. I've found the Mk7 chassis to be sensiitve to tyre changes and any extra grip at the front results in a very happy tail end.

It already feels far more secure in wet condition with better feedback.

Thanks guys. Yes they are a bit of a theft magnet at the moment but I've got a number of additional devices just in case..

Forgot to add I had a map update the other week to try, more load on part throttle and increased load over 4k, lets just say I may advise the load on part throttle is pulled back a little as its razor sharp and barely needs any throttle at all to start boosting, no lag at all.
