Introducing my new car - a C63 AMG coupe biggrin

I've been busy driving the car almost non stop since i picked it up (done nothing productive in days) - thanks to the glorious weather + panoramic sunroof open + epic AMG V8 noise (sometimes + tunnels too)

Pickup was from Sheffield, and the drive home was fantastic. Beautiful weather taking the car over the winding snakes pass was a brilliant introduction to the car.

This one had just 8k miles and it shows, bodywork and interior are in as new condition - but i have already added 700 miles in the few days i have had the car! I am heading for a 30 mile trip just to get milk :-)

The car is Diamond White (which is a really nice pearlescent type paint which looks lovely in the sunshine), all black leather and the black 19" wheels. Reverse camera but other than that it's a standard car. These come pretty generously equipped with fancy headlight that auto-dip on approaching traffic, heated seats, panoramic roof etc etc.

Contrary to the advice, i did not bother looking for one with the Performance Pack / LSD. My thoughts were to buy a low mile car and buy on condition. I can always add the LSD and remap to 500+ BHP down the line. Plus i'm not a huge fan of the red callipers and harder suspension they fit to the PP.

After all - as long as the car comes with the legendary 6.2l V8 powerplant - i'm happy cloud9

The best bit for me is that engine. And the noise. And the gearbox that blips on the downshift, creates lots of exhaust woffles and crackles and pops. And it also blips on upshift when you shift near the redline with a savage bark. It's just so addictive, especially in tunnels.

Only downside to this car is the fuel consumption (to be expected really...) I've gone through 3/4 tanks in less than a week! I may well end this thread in a few months as a bankrupt living under a bridge! But having stuck to "sensible" versions of cars (e.g bought a 635d over M6, bought a 335i over M3 etc) i've decided life is too short to worry too much about mpgs. My habit of changing cars like i change my clothes is probably more costly than the fuel anyways.

There are loads of interesting cars in this price bracket i could of bought instead (Audi R8 V8 or Aston Martin V8 Vantage being the stand outs for me) but i'm not quite sure what it is about these things but i have lusted after them since they were first introduced. They are also one of the only cars i have not "gone off" - instead my "want" has grown stronger over the years.

Plans are to take the car around Europe on some road trips (looking into Rico Rally in June) and pretty much just enjoy. No modifications planned or anything like that, although i do like the interior carbon pack and could be tempted to fit the trim pieces if i could locate a set...

I'm thinking i'll enjoy this for at least a year - and then potentially add some cash and trade in for an F-Type / whatever else takes my fancy at the time.

If there are any meets around the Manchester / Cheshire area then give me a shout - any excuse for a day out in this thing :-)

Here's some assorted pics from my first few days of ownership...

Rico Rally now booked in for June (Stelvio Pass, Fluela Pass, Mont Cenis, Lake Garda, Nurburgring etc) and also sunday drivers event in north wales booked with this and my mate in his fiesta ST - lots of fun to be had over summer in this car!

That's a lovely lovely motor. Out of interest were these ever available as a manual?
Cheers, not that i'm aware of.

The auto box suits the car quite well though, i use the paddles in manual mode often which adds back in a bit of involvement. I do city driving often so auto is nice for that.

Thanks for all the comments!

Agreed prefer the diamond white over polar - pics don't do it justice really nice depth to it.

Added almost 1000 miles in just over a week - says it all really.

I am tempted to look into remapping soon taking power from 450 ish to 520 ish providing my insurers will allow.

looks brilliant. still on the hunt for my perfect spec'd C63.. seen another member is enjoying his too.

random question, do your headlights turn with your steering wheel at night? im unsure if this is an optional extra or something that is standard with the C63 adaptive bi xenons!
Hi mate - yes they do! I did not know about this until after i got the car - not sure if it is standard or optional extra tbh.

The lights are fantastic. They also have high beam with auto-dip which is crazily accurate. It dips the beam just before another car comes the other way - and it sometimes does it before i've even seen the car coming! Amazing bit of kit. My gf did not believe that it was not me doing it - it is that good!

Good luck with your search - and add pics on here when you get one smile

Hmmm... following a grey 335d saloon onto wilmslow bypass earlier today - they are bloody quick.

Had to use perhaps 80/90% to keep up with it. Must have been mapped wink

You must realise by now that on here you will struggle to keep up with a standard 320d don't you? biggrin
Bloody beautiful car OP, and good to see some miles going on it, enjoy beer
Thanks a lot!

With such low miles on the car I have no worries adding plenty of miles - in fact I feel like previous owner was mad to use it so little!

So the car has gone from 8k miles to 16k miles already!

Just got back from a 6 day euro roadtrip (Rico Rally). 5 Countries, stelvio pass, fluela pass, lake garda, nurburgring. And 160mph on the autobahn!

Was awesome, 50 cars take part - everything from mclarens to clios - highly recommend it to anyone looking to do a structured euro trip with some great people. I'm already booked in for next summer biggrin

Car didn't miss a beat and was awesome fun! Held it's own against some far more exotic stuff too.

I've been out in a Friends C63 quite a few times, they are unbelievably quick and don't fail to put a smile on your face!
He had a Ferrari 360 in addition to it and the C63 felt so much quicker (He subsequently got an LP560 to replace the 360 hehe )

Great car OP and that trip looks fantastic!
Cheers, yes it is a quick car indeed! I've heard that Aston V8V would feel slow in comparison etc... LP560 would do the job though smile

Great pictures and car. We took ours to Budapest, then down through Croatia, Amalfi and back home via the alps.

Stunning cars!

A Eurocharged map allows the throttle to open past 65% and makes as massive difference to a stock non-PP C63. Quaife LSD is also very worthwhile!
That sounds like a great trip - do you have any pics?

A Eurocharged map is in my plans (unfortunately my insurance company don't like the sound of this so might have to get a new policy if i have it done)

I'm also keen to get the secondary cats removed - i LOVE the sound, but would like it to be just a bit louder. I've heard this makes crackles and pops on downshifts etc more audible too...
