Hi all, here's my CLK Black had him about six months now, and have serious, serious man love for the car. Sounds incredible, handles, goes like stink and cruised 800 mls in a day back to Calais from Germany a couple of weeks ago even touching 175 leptons on the A-bahn until I wussied out. Car is an animal, love it.

Just got through six hours cleaning mainly the wheels and the outside then today Luke @ LG Autoworx did his magic with a light paint correction and some blackfire wax. My favourite car since I sold my long departed CSL back in 2005.

Cheers all, it's definitely a keeper. I love what it looks like and how it drives. I got to drive a lovely Aston Vantage V12S today, great car, probably faster, but just left me wanting to climb back in the CLK..! There's something just a bit special about it, it's got bags of character and it's very basic inside and I like that. It's not trying too hard to be anything if you know what I mean.

To answer the question above, they made 25-34, I suspect 34, RHD UK. There were quite a few for the US though as they didn't get the CLK63 standard model. The US Black is a bit different though as it was a bit of a mash up having AMG leather seats and leather door cards, not the race buckets and the carbon trim of the UK. I imagine non-US LHD & RHD cars are the same as the UK cars.

The car is very fast, it's however quite a chunky beast, so whilst it's ballistic the new GT is faster for example due to the fact it weighs quite a bit less and has a faster changing box. It's still plenty scary fast for me, and never stops pulling hard (ooeerr!) especially the low end torque which means it's super easy to provoke it into a delicious slide. It's very similar to an M3 CSL, just with a huge amount more torque, and a heavier more solid feel to it.

The old microsite for it is still up here:

Nah it's not, his has a lot more miles on it. FWIW all of them came with the ball polished alloys.

Wtdoom - Noooo! Why?!

To answer an earlier poster, yes I bet it hurt the 1,000 mice they used to ball polish those alloys. Poor little b*stards. wink

TheJimi - yep I still have Spike. He's been through the wars though and I've struggled to get him road/track worthy for a while now. I think I'm close to the end though, just fitting the new gauges into the dash, new steering wheel and fixing the odd oil leak but should be back on the track soon. Car is now running an omex with throttle bodies inside an airbox and is pushing about 320 bhp but at a lower boost (1.5 bar rather than 1.8).

It would be a difficult day to choose between selling them if I had to, right now there's no chance of me selling any of the cars outside of the S500 which is going up for sale soon. Just don't have the time... that said I can't stop looking at T-5R volvo's... gah.

The pace car sounds mental, but the standard one is pretty fruity too
Wow, can't believe how loud the pace car sounds, the standard black is very loud as it is, this must be ear splitting!
