I've had this a while now, but thought I'd stick a thread up for everyone's amusement (or bemusement?!).

Take one Skoda Yeti 1.8TSI 4x4:

Grab a turbo from a Golf R/Audi S3:

Add some front brakes from a Boxster:

Rear brakes from an Audi S3:

Fit a whole host of other supporting mods, e.g. Bilstein dampers and Eibach springs; bigger intercooler; ceramic clutch; change some of exhaust (S3 Milltek downpipe, sports cat, mid box mated to Yeti rears) and inlet system. Then get it mapped up.

That dyno plot was from when it was first built, and done on a 2wd set of rollers - with Haldex disabled. It did 305PS on MRC's 4wd dyno:

The previous owner had this from new, and ticked most things on the options list - so it's got Park Assist; Adaptive Front lights and such. Unfortunately, it's also got a panoramic roof - which st itself a few months back, and fixing it cost me significantly more than buying some cars I've owned.

I bought this with most of the modifications already done, but have added a few myself - as well as trying to refine it further. The Yeti chassis is surprisingly good, so with a bit of poke it's entertaining enough for a family wagon.

Have I seen this hooning around Castle Combe?
Possibly, but not during my ownership! Might be the other tuned Yeti though.

A tuned Yeti, haha brilliant... had only seen the TTRS-converted one done before, but great to see others tuning something different too. I bet it's good fun to drive and seeing some of the expressions on the drivers you show up with it must be worth the money alone!! laugh

Seen the once BossHog did on the Yeti forums and loved it. Funnily enough I also love this one! Pretty much the ultimate sleeper, top job.
I think the TTRS one originally was the same spec engine-wise as this one, though he used the APR K04 kit I believe - whereas this is Shark Performance's own version. This one was done first, but the other Yeti has developed considerably further!

Beti the Yeti??? biggrin
Yep - Lee wasn't using it much at all, so I bought it from him last year.

Brilliant! Well done that man.
Apart from being lower (and the brake calipers) is there anything else externally that gives the game away?
Any videos?
It looks standard unless you clock the brakes and minor lowering - it's the best way to go with something like this, any styling enhancements tend to look a bit try-hard IMO!

No videos yet, I was tempted to run up the strip at one of the Santa Pod PH Sunday Services to see what it'd do - I'd hope for a high-13s pass, but that might be optimistic given its far from slippery shape!

Andy, you still got the G40?
Hey Ash! Still got the Polo, can't see me ever parting with that. Did a full rebuild from a bare shell a few years back. It's quicker than the Yeti, but far less tractable.

Very impressive, what sort of ££'s are we looking at roughly?

Don't do too much more to it , IMHO bossfox went too far with his Yeti with a totally different engine and lightweight panels, plastic windows etc it wasn't a Yeti any more.

Sad that the only 1.8 4x4 you can get now is the very top of the range elegance, can't imagine they're selling many of them.
This is a link to the APR K04 conversion: http://www.goapr.co.uk/products/turbo_trans_18_tsi...
So that's £2.5k for the bigger turbo and EMS calibration to match. In my case the car has intercooler, downpipe, mid-box, air filter and clutch to add to that bill. It'd be fair to say you'd have to really want a quick Yeti to make the investment!

I don't plan on doing much more to it, other than continuing to try to refine it. Pushing it much more will mean driveline upgrades for reliability. Considering its level of tune it's fairly well mannered, but the clutch is a bit heavy for the wife so she doesn't like driving it.

In the facelift Yeti you can't even buy this engine anymore, biggest petrol is a 1.4TSI - it's all about the dervs!

Now back on standard wheels to look completely stock:

Thinking about selling it to get something bigger to accommodate the growing family, but not sure what to replace it with!

Love this and does make me think. Is there a thread for your Polo?
I haven't done a thread for the Polo, will have to get round to doing that too at some point! That was also a bit of a sleeper back in the day - now I'm not sure what people make of it!

The Yeti is great fun, and is a really decent chassis for a family car. I do wonder whether Skoda ever considered a Yeti VRS, because I think they really missed a trick!
A roof box has crossed my mind, but I don't think it's legal to throw kids in one!

Having written an advert, now I'm off to see what big estates offer similar performance in the PH classifieds.

Need a grudge match drag race between this and Chris' sleeper Focus estate. laugh
Yes! Please can we have a race before you sell it?!

Btw, I love it! The 4wd must be handy too.
Sounds like fun. Is there a PH meet at Santa Pod any time soon?!

Thanks to the person who posted the link - it's also in the PH classifieds too, but I don't think I'm allowed to post the link here.

Shame it's got to go Andy, had pestered you a while to get that thing to the Ring , it'd have surprised a LOT of people hehe
Big estates.. if i recall, one of your family had a S4 at one point?
Hey Ian, hope all is well. If it hadn't been the main family transport, I'd have taken it on a few trackdays for a laugh - but explaining to the wife why she's got to do the nursery run for a few weeks because I've crashed the family wagon wouldn't go down too well. After all, that's what the £600 Clio 172 is for!

Yeah, an S4 Avant might be on the list - or more likely an A6 with the same 3.0 V6T lump. Need to get myself onto the bargain barges thread perhaps. Should start a thread for sleepers for sale to compliment that one!

...and has less space than the Yeti!

Stick with an A6 3.0T; they're really good.

Superb 3.6 VR6 with a snail?
A6 3.0T Avant is probably top of the list at the moment, that or a B8 S4 3.0T Avant.

A Superb 3.6 is also tempting, and utterly cavernous inside, but the only ones I've found so far with a dark interior are ex-cop cars with ragged interiors sadly.

Anyway, not in a rush, a modded Yeti isn't a car to part-ex or WBAC - so I'll wait for the right buyer and then make my move.
