Pistonheads has broken me again. For a year or two I've been looking at L322's with longing, having had a couple in the distant past. Then I turned 50 and realised I really don't like my 520D estate.

All went well until a Market Place post was dropped under my nose. Unfortunately, that one went before I could get there. But the monster was unleashed.

So last Friday I pottered off towards Grimsby to collect my ebay action win, the bargain of the day at £2,150. Unfortunately not very well described with several big and expensive problems, I retreated quickly, questioning my mind...

That lasted until today. Agreed the price (well over budget), and picked up 3 hours later from a very nice village in the Yorkshire Wolds. Enthusiast owned, and only 40 of these exist in 2008 model year. 123k, Full LR Dealer/Specialist history Drives extremely well. I am delighted. Enough waffle.. The pictures..

2 weeks in and it is behaving most un LandRover like. Nothing has broken, nothing has fallen off, nothing has leaked....

I've done 3 long journeys in it which are sublime. And now ordered a kit to add Car Play to the existing system.

Averages 31.5 mpg over a 200 mile from Bristol to Doncaster today.

One thing I want to look into is how to deal with peeling lacquer. Not dreadful, but one or two panels have a little so i would like to get a plan in mind.

Love the colour. Shame it's not the correct engine but nice to see a red one smile

What's the adapter for car play? I don't know there was anything available that can be added to these for that.

Drive nicer than the Volvo?
Much nicer place to be. Driving experience is very different

Excellent, how are the rear sills and arches?

i picked up a 57 plate in Tonga Green last year, enjoying my time with it so far. TImeless design and the 3.6 engine is comparable in my eyes to the 4.4 - having had two of those. 6 speeds work fine versus 8 and get mid 20s combined
Rear sills and arches just been done…

I might squeal like that with a fist problem, so to speak.

Hope it's OK and nothing more than usual consumables. I imagine it is just normal wear/tear. Although you might not love the blue hoses, at least they've been changed - that's a known point on these I've discovered as I've been doing my research on them.
Ha. It seems to have self healed. It's already done last years annual mileage within my 4 week ownership. Perhaps just waking up.

And well aware of the hose problem. Our last one had a hose fail in France, on a Saturday evening in Le Mans (not race week) on the way home. Being France, they turned up with a tow truck, and sent us home via taxi, train, plane and taxi. Diagnosed the car in the week (and removed a very smelly cheese), and I got sent back at the next weekend, via taxi, train, plane, train, taxi, hotel, taxi, and new ferry...

Safe to say it was the best breakdown cover ever spent, especially as I ticked the £10 option for parts cover...

Good work. I was thinking about one of these for my disco 4. Was it difficult?
No straightforward, the most difficult bit was getting the aux to the centre console.

Expensive though. Bit options are limited especially when wanting to keep it looking original
