Yea it does peturb me how many saxo's are chavved to death, and i HATE the image they have too! Thing is i've had it so long and it's so fun to drive in the current set up, that I couldn't sell it! I love it. (Plus i've spent too much on it) *cough*whistle
My plans are to fit my new engine (Which is almost ready-200Bhp Throttle bodied 16V built by Richard Longman) then track day it all next year. It's my 'toy' so to speak.biggrin

Thanks Guys. It is coming together now alright...a labour of love! All the work has been done by me also, with the exception of the painting etc. I have made all the little carbon parts myself, and fitted the cage etc etc, the next big hurdle is the engine and fuel system...*eek*

A couple of new toys....I also have my power chart for my new engine which I stick up asap.
Here it goes anyway...

Got my STACK the other day, only really had a chance to mess around with it tonight. I've made a card template for the stack to sit in, which i'm bringingto streamline to get it done in carbon. It was a total bitch to get the template mint, and it took 3 attempts in total but it's sorted now. That's about it for now. Cage is still getting done (More bits welded to it), so hopefully i'll get it back soon (this weekend is the plan)!
Anyway here are the pics-i love the stack and can't wait to fit it/wire it in, although i'll probably wait until my new engine is in so it can be wired in all at once.biggrin

Cheers.

Thanks for the positive comments lads. smile
Well i've spent a fair amount, but I have done it over a number of years of ownership, although it's only REALLY started to take shape recently into how I actually want it. The standard is now something i'm pleased with. Always wanted to do things properly and not cut corners and bodge, which sometimes mean it takes longer due to saving up etc, but the final outcome will be worth it. If I wasn't so indecisive it would've been MUCH cheaper!biggrin
I picked up my dyno chart for my new engine too. Please don't go asking me loads of technical questions about the spec as I don't have specific details on the internals, I literally asked Richard Longman for 200Bhp and he built it! It obviously has fully uprated internals such as forged pistons, steel rods etc etc, but I don't know cam durations or anything like that! It's 1.6 206 TU engine with proper pug sport intakes (throttle bodies), and it should do the business once it's in!! 8)

Thanks again guys, appreciate the comments! smile
Right I got my cage back at last today-here are the pics. I also fitted my LHD wiper set up, changed back to standard lights (by popular demand lol) :P then drilled the holes in the rear to start installing the new fuel system. Also got carbon number plates, and offered up the stack to see how it looks. Busy day so far!! Anyways here are the pics-let me know what you think!! smile

Roll Cage with extra bars and gussett:

Rear Lights:

STACK:

Fuel System:

Carbon Plates:

LHD Wiper Set Up:

And then I did the holes for the rear fuel lines, masked up, measured, then drilled. Also painted the holes with touch up paint after to prevent rust:

Then all tidied up and hoovered swarf!! 8)

On pugs and citroens the wiper motor is directly above the intake so if you have throttle bodies and cut the scuttle the wiper motor is in the way. Example pics below:

RHD Set Up (scuttle not cut but you can see all the wiper gubbins in the way)

Looks fantastic and 200hp must be absolutely insane in that car.

Nice sharp pictures as well, what camera are you using?
Thank you!
It's a Ricoh GRD 2-the pics are a little hazy as I was in a rush but the camera produces excellent results. Camera's are my other vice, as well as spending ridiculous amounts on Citroens lol!biggrin

Thanks guys! I've been a lazy bugger recently, but this lush sunshiine is spurring me on to continue smile
Right, i've done a few more little bits and bobs tonight, managed to get back from work before it got dark! This weather is beautiful!
Just bolted the rear section of my cage back in as it was in the car but I never got round to tightening up the bolts. I am going to leave out the front section until I have fitted the engine as i'll have to take the dash out again too...faarrrk! confused
Jobs remaining are as follows (or at least the one's I can remember anyways)

1. Remove fuel tank to fit the bulkhead connectors and braided lines
2. Remove the VTR engine
3. Get bay painted and seam welded
4. Get strengthening plates welded to underside of struts (gonna be a bastid!)
5. Buy Coilovers
6. Buy a Gearbox
7. Fit Engine
8. Wire it in
9. Shit my pants! biggrin

Also made a few more little carbon covers for the front floorpan-pics to come. Here are some so far anyhow.

Thanks again guys, it's nice to get such good comments about it-makes it all worthwhile!
Well I work for an engineering company dude, although i'm no engineer myself! I just have a very keen interest in cars and an eye for detail. I study race cars and other such motors for inspiration (eg the Roger Clark Scoob) and try to mantain the same level of detail when doing my car. It all adds up to make a better final package in my opinion! I just think if you're going to do it then you should do it properly-there are too many 'lash ups' out there giving modified cars a bad name! smile

Right there haven't been many updates for a while due to the VW shedbiggrin, so I thought i'd post up some progress regarding the Citroen:

The engine is due to be picked up from Longmans within the next ten days or so (lets hope the bill isn't too steep *cough*) so I will post up some pics once it's back. I also purchased some strut top strengthening plates ready to be welded on for when I get some coilovers (another impending purchase at some point). They will most probably get welded underneath the struts to keep the bay tidy and minimal looking. Anyway here's a pic:

The plan is once the engine arrives, i'll start removing the VTR engine and start prepping the bay-seam welding and new paint will be the plan! It's a logistical nightmare!! biggrin

Oh i've also managed to find some grab handles for when I fit the front carbon door cards...i'm going to use some Porsche GT3 one's-they will do the job nicelysmile

Great car mate, you have a fantastic attention to detail, i'm not a Citroen fan myself but that is a very fine example of a Saxo! That engine should be fantastic a great car with very little weight but plenty of power! And while were on the subject of engines...

Hmmm I get the feeling that your bill will be quite phenomenal, everything else from Longman's is, but luckily so are their engines wink
Enjoy biggrin
Lol i hope so mate, I hope so!! I still haven't gotten the price back from Richard...my sphincter is twitching! eekbiggrin

Anyway I get the engine next weekend so should be more updates then..for here are a few updates..

Harness back in on drivers side for trail fit with new cage bars-spot on it is too biggrin Cleaned it as well, and also took a shot with the 'hungry van about to eat the little Saxo' biggrin

Right, another big update:

I finally picked up my engine today...as mentioned, the bill was quite phenominal as it happens loleek, but i felt better when I saw the excellent level of work that Richard & Co. had carried out on the engine.
I took a trip down with 2 friends, to pick it up. It's all ready and mint, can't wait to get it fitted now. Wirewizard Rob is going to work his wizardry on the wiring, and we plan to fit the unit ourselves. All that's left to do now is source a gearbox, prep the bay, and get the teflon fuel lines and install that, then it's ready to accept the engine. Anyway here are some pics to wet the appetite, note the 'proper' kit car flywheel
Also picked up my carbon coil pack cover from streamline while too, and got my front door cards back from being trimmed too.
PS: You'll have to excuse the B&W art fag shots - I am obsessed with them recently!

Cheers guys. Yea it's not cheap as such but I try not to think about that...the way I see it is it's worth it!
The bodies are genuine Citroen Sport items, as used on the super 1600 kit cars. The engine has been built to that spec you see, inc flywheel, cams, pistons etc etc. It also has an enlarged and baffled sump, and the whole shabang runs on EFI Euro One Management.

Here's a more crisp shot of the inlet, and a few more snaps too:

Thanks Taita!

Right, a few more updates. Went to Earls in Silverstone tonight to get all new fuel lines and fittings. I wanted to make the transition to the Teflon hose as it doesn't breathe at all...fecking expensive to change it all though as it requires new fittings as well. I've got some pics below of the new set up, and the differences between the rubber lined and teflon stuff. It's much thinner than the rubber lined hose too. Just shy of £400 for the lot! eek
The hosing is about 15 a meter, and the fittings are £30 each for the 90 degree ones, and 20 for the straights, so if you ARE considering running your hoses in the car be aware that it is expensive! Still, I have to have this set up with the engine as it's tried and tested, and i'm too lazy to think up a new method! biggrin
Also got a few more detail shots of the inlet with the trumpets off. Oh i'll be selling all my old hoses and fitting, and possibly swirl pot too as I want to get pro alloy to make me a mint black one in their new stealth range, so i'm accepting offers on this lot in the bottom pic (excluding the cosworth fuel pump) .
Also a pic of the oil cooler I bought off a mate! biggrin
Here we are anyways

INLET SHOTS:

OIL COOLER:

NEW HOSES AND FITTINGS (CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS £400 CAN YOU-F*CK!) :P

ONE FITTING PLUMBED IN - YOU CAN SEE THE DIFFERENCE IN HOSE SIZES AND THE FITTINGS HERE (NEW ONE ON LEFT) IT'S STILL DASH SIX HOSE, BUT TEFLON IS THINNER THAN THE RUBBER HENCE LESS BULK IN THE HOSE:

AND MY OLD SET UP FOR SALE - £250 FOR THE LOT, BARGAIN, IT'S OVER £300 WORTH.

JUST SO YOU CAN SEE ALL THE FITTINGS ARE MINT:

Thanks again for the kind comments guys smile Yes it should be damm fun once it's all together! It was fun before, the new engine should transform it! biggrin
A few more updates on the VW will also be coming pretty soon. He's off to get a good looking over by some specialists up north towards the end of april so we'll see how things go from there.
Anyway back to the car!

Right, a few updates, aparts from dying with a flu bug today I managed to do a few bits on saturday..despite the utterly terrible weather all day.
I sold my Recaro's to a friend so I need to decide on some new seats. I'm thinking the GT3 Recaros or one of the super light Recaro Profi SPA seats, but we'll see. Will prob leave them until last as I need the money for other things right now - namely gearbox and engine bay prep, & how can we forget, coilovers!
I started to install my fuel lines which was a fiddly fecking job, but made a start...pics of that to follow. The main thing I did was install these porsche grab handles. The handle is fixed but the doorcard and surround need to still be bonded into place. Going to flock the surround so it matches the door handle too. This was a bh of a job to get right as I didn't think about it enough initally and drilled a hole in the wrong place but I got round it with some initiative. Think it looks much tidier than the previous ones. Also you can see the streamline carbon doorcards which I got back from being retrimmed too - the quality is stunning!! Thanks to Merv & Chris @ Streamline for those. smile
Anyway here is the pic:

Right I finally managed to get my carbon door cards fitted today, and also the porsche grab handles now the surrounds are back from flocking. Also was up north sorting a Quaife close ratio box out so that should be on it's way down to me in a few weeks - REALLY can't wait to start getting things moving now!

...excuse the stty pics, dunno what was up with my camera today!

Quaife box c/w diff - needs a clean up and there's a broken thread which crossie told me about but i'll get it sorted. Think it's where the speedo cable goes or something? confused
I know it doesn't look like much but the noise/performance of it is DAMM sexual! biggrin
Anyway here are the pics:
