Headlings 205 GTI Turbo.
Discussion
Hi Guys, been on here for a while, love looking at the readers cars section, some lovely stuff there!
I thought i would share some pictures of my 205 gti, I built most of it myself, had a little help with engine work etc from local guys down at Sandwich in Kent.
This was a quick pick of us queing up on the ferry for le mans in 2008!

Right I'll add some more details now the picture thing has worked! Im a bit rubbish on computers!!
I bought this of a mate as it had a knackered bottom end, so i whipped out the 1.9 engine and thought about what to put in it.
The choice for me was a MI16 or 2.0 8v turbo. As I had just bought my first house in 05 money was tight so I went for the 2.0 8v turbo from a 406 sri, the reason for this was good BHP for your buck!
Whilst having no money and thinking about the engine, I stripped out the interior, ran the brake and fuel lines inside the car, fitted poly bushes, spax suspension (soon to be Gaz) painted everything, hubs, wish bones etc.
My first engine was rubbish! I bought it from a scrap yard for £150 and it was basically junk! So on the internet i went and got a 56,000 mile engine with turbo for £380 and we continued with it!
I got in touch with 2 guys from Sandwich in Kent who I met through the 205 gti drivers forum, they help put my new engine in, put a new lumpier cam in it from a 205 1.9 cat car and got the thing running!
I took the beast home and set about getting it ready for the le mans trip, I fitted 2 seats and harness's, got a mate to make me an ali tank which i have mounted in the rear and genrally give it a tidy up.

So the story so far! I have done about 3000 miles in it since le mans, de stickered it ( want the stealth look! ) and did some more bits to it!
I have had the T25 turbo re done by The Turbo Centre as it was smoking a bit
I have had the rear beam re furbished as a bearing had seized
I have put on a 406 non abs break master cylinder to improve the braking and to go with the GTI 6 brakes
Just bought some GTI 6 front brakes to put on it this weekend and a FSI fuel pressure thingy!
Few engine shots above, It running a Fensport bleed valve, cossie 2wd inter cooler, Bailey dump valve ( bit chav I know! ) , MI16 clutch, 205 Cat cam.

Some pics of how it looks now! Future plans include Gaz shocks, Toyo 888 tyres, bigger T28 turbo and some track day action!! I keep track daying and racing my bikes so need to give it a go!
One last one for a laugh! this from first trip to le mans in my company mondeo!! I hope my boss doesnt see this!!

I forgot to mention what it goes like, well pretty good with all the weight out of it, I think its running around 200 bhp but want to get on a RR to find out for sure.
I have spent around £3k building it, I have been thinking about something to replace it, but I'll have to spend quite a bit to get something quicker, caterfield,E36 M3, scooby? So I think I'll chuck some more dosh at it till I have some proper dosh to play with!
I am thinking neon orange wheels for my track tyres? thoughts?
Hope you have enjoyed reading about my car.

BTW my daily driver is an Audi A3 170 TDI which you can see the rear end in the last picture, really pleased with the Audi.
If you want to have a look further at my build and look at some other nice 205's take a look at:

Thanks for all the kind words guys!
As for the turbo, yes I will keep an eye out on the 200SX forum for a T28, the only thing is the flange is different to the T25 so you need a turbo technics manifold, but yes one day i want to do this mod to it as well as Saab red injectors.
I have it set at 0.9 bar, it gives you a good shove in the back but your right it does run out of steam after about 3500-4000 rpm.
I may wind the boost up a touch but the ECU cuts if it gets above 1.2 bar, with a basic bleed valve i dont want to get a boost spike and cause it to cut out.
The car looks kind of the same, I have a normal number plate on the front (Just had an MOT!) and got the grill graphics on again, I like them, bit of a tribute to the group B days!
So just going to put on the GTI6 brakes this weekend and give it a polish!!
If you see me about in it near Ashford Kent give us a wave! I must get a PH sticker on it some where!

Hi Guys, thanks for the info on the Bleed Valve vs Dawes Valve, not sure what to do! It goes ok as it is so may just leave it with a Bleed Valve on it, unless I can get one of those posh electronic boost controllers?!
Bit of an update, Put the GTI6 brakes on it last weekend, man what a difference! They clear the wheels with about a fag paper between the caliper and hub but they work great. Ready for its first track day at Brands on 1st July!

I have decided to sell the Pug as I am too busy with my bike racing, I ran it at Brands a few months ago and did some 58 sec laps so goes well!
It will have a years MOT and comes with spares etc.
I'm looking for £1750 for it, the car is based in Kent. If your interested drop me a e mail at
