Limited info I have is that every OPC will be allowed one unit for approx late June / July 06 delivery and then the full production will begin for retail from September 2006.
Rumour has it that Porsche will limit production to 250 units per year.
Its believed a power upgrade will be offered that takes the standard (apparantly) power from 460bhp to 500.
£92-95k for the basic car.

All this is part known part best guess as official details seem to be leaking very slowly.

I am sure it will be a stunning car, I guess look to the current C4S for styling ideas.

I have a dealer pestering me to sign up for one with guarenteed delivery in June next year, I wonder though will it be £50k better car than a 4 year old 996TT which can be tweaked up to 500bhp with ease.

It looks to me as though they have taken the back half of a wide bodied car and the front of a narrow bodied car and glued them together!

I'll be reserving judgment 'til it comes out but I reckon it's gonna be awesome and don't think I'll be disappointed.

Those images have been around for (what seems like) years. I can't believe that there is nothing newer, with deliveries starting in 9 months time, surely there would be up to date spy shots at least ?

Guys just do a google search on images:
http://images.google.co.uk/images?q=997%20turbo&hl=en&lr=&sa=N&tab=wi

There are a few newer ones there.

Why don't they just get the moulds back out for the 993 tt body? Save all this going around in big circles that they're doing.

cos then you would have a car that looked 8 years old at launch.

Exactly, however introduce LED lighting, the interior of the 997 (very similar to 993 but more modern) and some of the new electronics.

I think the extreme versions of the 997 are going to look the absolute dogs when they're launched.

Perhaps the ultimate expression of the 911 and maybe reason enough to close the book?

Also interesting that the silver trim around the headlights make them look like 996 facelift lights.

Then again, these cars always have so many stick on/bolt bits to throw you off, as they know the cars will get photographed when out testing.

I like the rear arches but prefer the 996tt front bumper's cleaner lines.

Why would they limit production of a 95k car? They sell thousands of TTs a year and make a very healthy margin on each one. It is inherently not a car of which scarcity value has particular relevance.
I can't imagine a reason to limit production so drastically. They will build as many as they think they can sell.

It would be nice if they did limit production to protect values. How many spend 100k on a new car more than once, when they see how high volumes hit residuals? I seem to keep meeting people who say never again...

Thats not even factoring in the lack of exclusivity that comes with Porsche's ever increasing volumes.

Sadly, I don't see Porsche changing heading on any of this. Thats not how companies work.

The thing is, if they limited production, either the cars would no longer cost <£100k, or if they did you wouldn't be able to get one.
It would become an artificial market - the exact bullsh1t that the clowns at Ferrari specialise in. When you have a deliberate under-production of a desired thing it forces up the price to an unjustified level that does not represent the actual cost of production.
See: Enzo, 550 Barchetta, 575 Superamerica, etc.

And I am sure you will continue to do so. For the same reason that the people you meet threw financial shrewdness to the wind, so will hundreds of others each year.

And if you think a TT is big losses from new, have a look at a Maserati
