iirc this one has been posted before.
the general concensus was that, whilst it represents stunning value for money, its a pandoras box for maintainence / running / repair / OMFG its blown up costs.
Great when it works, but too much of an unknown quantity to spend 996 TT money on, when you could just get a 996TT X50 2nd hand and be safe in the knowledge thats its warrantied.
Still.. damn nice![](http://www.pistonheads.com/include/images/smile.gif)

Hmm...I wonder what's going on here, then?
This beastie has been absent from the Loughran stable for some time - was it sold then bought back and if so, why?
Somebody somewhere told me that this car, whilst obviously possessing almighty shove in certain applications verged on the undriveable in everyday conditions...which is odd since TechArt's latest 650 bhp take on the 996TT is apparently 'pussy cat' like on the commute...
Guess much depends on the severity of the racing clutches these uber conversions seem to demand - which I'll be in a good position to comment on later this week when Frankenstein Hindley has twidled with a few more nuts unt bolts on my own, now seemingly prehistoric 993 Waffen TT.
(About bleedin' time, too!)

Ahh but you are forgetting my noble Derrestrictor that a Turbo will have a whole raft of mainly 3 letter acronyms to stop the car thowing you in the hedge, not to mention 4wd to actually put the power down and to sap away a good proportion more bhp.
Not to mention a Turbo is as soft as a driving school micra to drive in terms of suspension compliance etc, when in comparison with a stripped GT3.
I speak from experience when I say 600 bhp in a 911 with only 2wd and the only traction contol & stability management being that provided by the pressure you give the fun pedal through your finely crafted Geeves & Hawkes blitzkriegg jackboot is an entirely different-and rather daunting proposition, particually in our rather damp climate.....

Thats spooky. just looking at autotrader saw that car. wondered why it was still for sale as I remembered posting about it a while ago.
They seem to have trouble shifting it! Hmmm do you think they are open to offers? I can muster £20k But I want it serviced taxed and tested

Oh and good tyres all round!
Well well, the previous threads about this car are a revelation.
What a surprise that the beasty still languishes, unloved and unsold, after months and months.
I wonder if our fears concerning the frailty of such conversions are unfounded.
Perhaps the UK market is still too respectful of the OPC line, fearful of an independent stamp on a car, rather than engaged and supportive of the mechanical engineer's conversion skills?
Perhaps there is less fear and concern in Germany: after all, extreme porkers are not uncommon there.
I think the fine efforts of the ninemeister are to applauded too. I would have no qualms in running one of Mr Beltons fine creations, and believe it would resale acceptably well to a understanding audience.
Which still leaves the question of the unsold GT3 TT..
Feeling brave, anyone ? Why not make an offer over the christmas lull?

I am fundamentally dismayed by this new raft of uber 996 meistery that seems to be almost ubiquitous in the more leathery environs of ze schwartz forest...
Neither am I content with Stuttgart's propensity to despoil the whole shooting match with their 'Silver Arrows Revisited' trip which seems to be obsessing lots of well to do, grey haired septugenarians who should really know better and be wallowing around in something altogether less frenetic.

{Lizard Issue: Must say that a small trampolining of damping seems to be the best bet orf track, however: the Munchensplurter is devbouring naughty cambers and errant tarmac abscences with Evonetic aplomb; verily cresting and plunging like a whippet wi' a dirty great ferreet in it's sights...and in this respect, I oft find the modicum of lesser but crucially similar spring travel [still not entirely spine friendly on every occassion!] in das beetle of great merit when pursuing villains across a field or some such.
You RS boys are all very well welding yourself to your rose joints and manacling yo' ass to the roll cage but in later life, you too will succumb to the power of lard and find that even in your desire to frazzle cup holders at every juncture, their is a ceratin 'je ne sais quoi' when it comes to Turbo lambswool and Venezualan oak picnic tablettism.)

Only yesterday...etc......even reading that back it reads of someone with an intimate knowledge of matters pork.
My point exactly, not even a whiff of bovine excrement, as we enjoyed our chatter of matters refering to steroidily enhanced swine.
Mind you they say Jeffrey Dalmers (sp?) neighbours thought he was a nice guy too......

Oh and for the record the Boxster pedal car is definietly better looking than the Mercedes SLK pedal car. ![]()
My fellow compadre in hoonage 'a la' pork, I fear we cannot agree on this matter.
Quite simply unless I want my little gecko relitives to grow up & manage a Toni & Guy outlet you have to encorage the little tykes in a 911 flavored pedal powered toy.
Then again no harm I suppose in getting them to aim high from a young age...

They then might at least buy that nice uncle iguana the real thing when they grow up

Gorgeous.
Saw a car very similar(same conversion and colour!)to that roll down a bank outside lindbrook OPC in Kent a couple of years back.
It rolled over and missed 3 parked porsches by inches.
The owner got out unscathed thankfully.
He just floored it on a wet straight road and lost it majorly.

The car in question was sold (back) to Loughrans by my father.
He acquired the car from them with the intention to using it as a trackday car. Unfortunately, pending deals at work etc meant he never found the time to track it as much as he'd liked and he eventally took the plunge and sold the car back to Loughrans.
He is now in a position where time is not a problem and he is now once again looking for a track day car......interestingly enough he has opted for a 996 Turbo with the performance pack and a 1500 Radical.
The GTR600 was a fantastic car but it demands so much concentration and effort to get the best out of it (and to avoid spinning) that the enjoyment is somewhat lost in the whole experience. Hugely fast and capable car (brakes are out of this world) but when push comes to shove it really isn't that much quicker than the 996 Turbo with performance pack. Very few drivers could ever get the most out of it and for the UK track days that we all visit pushing the car hard enough to get the most out of it isn't what those events are really for.
