Over on Teamspeed.com, members are getting their RS 4.0's delivered regularly now, thought i'd be a pic wh*re and spread the love to PH. Some nice PTS ones arriving now, too...

PTS in grey:

Loving his matching helmet:

Very nice PTS in blue, still under build:

I'll probably keep adding to this as new ones arrive. Apparently there are another 20 or so ordered on Teamspeed which is just mental.

3 more PTS Blue (Maritime, Riviera and Cobalt), one PTS Guards Red, one PTS Speed Yellow and a rumoured green one too...

They look great, love the matching helmet also.

Only bit of the stickers I don't like the ones around the front vents/lights on the bumper. I'd get rid of them and quite like the rest.

Grey one is nice with the helmet. Like to see the speed yellow and guards one. White also suits it, but I'd get it with black alloys.

I think the Meteor Grey one looks best so far. Much nicer than the black/black combo.

I forgot that there's a guy in Switzerland who reckons he's getting his 4.0 in full Gulf colours.

It's already been photoshopped (with black wheels - his will be orange) and i think it'll look incredible...

Can't wait to see it.

Unless Porsche GmbH have changed their approach to the Gulf Blue paint, this won't be a PTS job. After the Gulf Carrera GT, Porsche have not painted another production car in Gulf Blue due to technical issues with the paint application to the various materials on the car. I asked for it an on option on an RS and was told it was impossible by Germany. They simply cannot get the paint to adhere to the materials in a manner that gives an even colour and finish. Many people believe that PTS means you can have any colour, this isn't true. You ask for the colour and if Porsche has not applied it to the model you want to use the colour on, they will test the paint on each material type. If they can get a standard colour on all the types of material and surfaces, they will cost the job up (standard colours are one coat of paint, for PTS you may have to pay for 2+ and special lacquer). Once this is costed, you get told the price. If they cannot get the paint correct, they will equally tell you that they won't do it and to choose another colour, or revert to a stock paint.

Whilst, imho, the 997.2 RS needed a brighter colour palette, I actually prefer the stock colours of the 4.0 smile

Ah, well in that case my guess is that he's getting Riviera and getting all the orange bits done himself after.

Though there is this 997.2 GT3 RS, but again I think this may have been done by Isringhausen in the US, a very accommodating dealership.

The SharkWerks car isn't factory painted and Riviera, Maritime and Mexico Blue are very different to Gulf; however, it will be interesting to see how/if he achieves it.

My guess is he'll get it painted after the sale too. It'll absolutely bork his residuals, even on a 4.0 but hey if he intends on keeping the car forever I love his commitment. It most certainly will look amazing.

I prefer the black one due to the contrast details, wheels, mirrors and stripes, the car does not lose its lines.

Silly question maybe, but what does PTS stand for?

Why would the Gulf paint not stick if the only difference between it and a paint that does is the colour?
