No problem. When do you take delivery? Is it your first 911?

Hmmm, probably not a bad one to speccylate on.

A mate of mine tried making some money on a Mini cab, but they are only going for list so he cancelled his deposit - lost £500.

That said, who'd want a Mini cab?!!!

Dazren, I take delivery close to launch, not got exact date yet. Had a 996 c4s previously loved it but knew the 997 would take things a stage further!

Dom, got 2 mini cooperS cabs for 1st of sept! gonna run them for a couple of months then sell them for list. Cooper S' are fantaaaaaaaaaastic, Has one when I sold my 4s, it was so much fun, gonna have a cooper s works cab in march, please go and drive one, so much fun.

I am getting my 997 in November. A certain dealer in reading had a further 2 or 3 build slots still available for the same month, just a couple of weeks back.

benno, 997 or 997 S?
I had trouble getting another S (with a full list of options not this very feeble list that we have to work with currently)for march.

re 997, S is the one to go for. Saw one at the 'ring on a test day - looked and sounded far more serious than the normal model. Meant to be as quick as the 996tt around the ring or sommat.

Re Mini Cooper, it is just the cabriolets that I don't like the idea of... and don't like Mini Ones because of the Fisher Price speedo. Otherwise, nothing against them

Whats wrong with the cabrio? You get to let bugs fly in your hair whilst speeding around happily! Thats my soft top option, toyed long and hard with a 340r but felt that as I'm no senna, the cooper s works cab will be quite fun with no major spills or running costs, and with the Hartge alloys I had on my last S, it should look awesome. (for a mini )

the 997 Carrera and Carrera S both look identical if you fit 19" alloys and PASM.

Even with this the standard car is 5k cheaper with identical spec. Thats a big difference for 25bhp.

Besides when you add sat nav, phone, sports seats, metallic one is 60 the other is almost 70k. Paqrticularly when you then add a sports exhaust and the sports chrono thingy.

5k isnt a lot of money to own an S over a standard car! Why can you still get standard cars from the dealers while the S has a long backlog already? Make like a snake and go for the Ssssssssssssssssss!

I think the S will be better for resale, just a hunch.

It seemed far more dynamic going around the ring. Really quite hardcore compared to the pipe and slippers standard offering.

Maybe it just encouraged the driver a little more (or there was Guns and Roses on the CD player, not The Carpenters). Purely a personal impression. I'm sure there's not much in them on normal roads with an average driver.

I am "in between 911's" at the moment, and using a Cooper S works as a fun run around.

You are quite right.

The Cooper S rocks ! A lot more fun than my 996 C4 ever was !

BENNNO BENNNO BENNNO! that's good work my friend. we can now spend a few months working through the spec of your car , hopefully all options will be available for selection for a december car! Will get you some pics of a black s with its red calipers and red seat belts, should look amazing, even considering this option myself for my march S.
