997GT3 - Arctic Silver!
Discussion
Oh dear! Seemingly - like everyone else on here I've been determined to be a little more original with the colour of my new GT3. Having flirted with white I've finally spec'd red. HOWEVER - just seen one in silver and much as it pains me to say it it looked absolutely amazing! Really Really Good. As I said, Oh dear...............
You have my sympathy, I have been doing exactly the same, decided Cobalt, then changed mind when I saw a Turbo in that colour, then thought about Guards Red after seeing several articles with that colour. But after looking at the different colours on the Aston, I ended up only wanting Titanium, so I am sad to admit that Artic is my likley choice "again"!!
Having said this a highly polished GT3 in Guards Red will look very "Ferrari-like," and the colour sort of glows in wet dark weather, should look fabulous!

993GT2 in orange on this thread. Looks absolutely mental.
Next time I order a new 911 it'll be in this colour.

(sorry Vic, orange will be the new arctic silver in a few years time!)

Yeh - going to stay with red BUT anyone automatically dismissing Arctic as old hat should at least give it a second visit I reckon. Think you'll always be v. v.happy with Arctic whereas I suspect that the majority of the time I'll be thrilled with red but there will be times when I'll not be so sure. Think it will need good light and to be clean. Where did you see a silver one, are they arriving at Reading already? Once a few are in I intend to take a trip down, to help with spec choice!

It's a Gt3 you can be a little different from the average!
I am not a great fan of 996 in red, but both mk1 & 2 with the bodykit really work....there is enough detailing on the 997 for this to look equally good.

Paul are you still enjoying the 993RS, anything else tempting you?

Nothing wrong with silver.
It (and white) are the traditional German racing colours and virtually every Porsche model has looked superb in silver - 356, 550 spyder, early 911s, 928, 959, Carrera GT, etc, etc. OK it's become a bit mainstream on the later models, but the new 997GT3 will look sufficiently distinctive to carry it well.
Best of all - it's quite the easiest colour to keep looking clean and presentable. Great when you prefer to use your car than polish it
