Hello,

The wife's gone and got herself pregnant and so the 911's days are now numbered

Just looking for an idea on how much I could expect to get for my 996 if I sold to a dealer or privately.

Spec:
2003 model 52 plate
37000 miles
Basalt Black/ Black leather
18in carrera alloys
sunroof
small silver trim pack
CD/radio + sound pack
last serviced in October 06
Porsche warranty until October 07

The overall condition is very good, minor stone chips but nothing you wouldn't expect.

I'd ideally like to sell privately and get a higher price although I'm quite drawn to the idea of selling to a dealer for peace of mind and guaranteed cash in the bank.

I'm thinking around 32k to a dealer or 34k private, does that sound about right?

Cheers

Cant help you on price chum, but from posts on here a while ago there were a fair few people looking for black/black C2's so I dont expect it will hang around.

hmmm...

I wonder if you'd fancy trading 'down' in the 996 world for a couple of months...

If you catch my drift...

Yes, she bought a kit from boots I think

I've looked at the baby seat option, not sure I'd feel that safe with it though. I tend to drive like a fool in the 911, it has no traction control or PSM and so I'd feel very nervous driving it. There's also the problem of being hit from behind (no jokes please) - there's not much room to absorb an impact. I'll probably end up with an A4 Avant or something practical like that.

So Black/Black C2s are in demand then? hmmmm, might have to consider a private sale then.

....i don't want to p1ss on your fire but i think you are going to get your pants pulled down at a dealer. I can't see them offering much more than 26k if you are lucky. You may get a little more privately maybe 28-29k. Maybe the baby seat is a good option? This is all just an opinion and i sincerely hope you prove me wrong. Good luck.

I reckon you should get at least a 35k bid for that car from most independents with the small margins the indies work on ..Henry's got a similar 2002/52 plate car up for £41995 as an indication to what its worthlaugh

Just got an offer from an independent for 32k. Very keen to buy it due to the colour combo.

I'm sure they'd knock off £500 when they look over it but it's still not a bad offer IMO.

....that is a very decent offer. Just goes to show what i know, i'm glad i've been proved wrong. Still not tempted with a baby seat?

Best offer so far on mine was a cash offer from Henry.

Give him a call.

It still hurt, but it was fair considering I could have cash. He offered me mid way between OPC offer and private prices.

I'd get a baby seat.

There's not much room in any car from being rear-ended but at least you've got a giant engine in the way.

For frontal impacts there is a lot of stuff to collapse first.

Sides are probably stiffer than average + you've got the driveshafts (i.e. front wheel drives haven't).

You could take things a little easier when the kids in it: I'd at least try it and see how you feel for a couple of weeks before changing the entire car yikes.
The rear seats are ideal for people up to 12ish IIRC, so you'll be OK for another 12 years.

Good points. It will be a massive dissappointment to get rid of it, wanted one since I was a kid. We've just bought a house with a garage and it's bloody annoying that my first ever garage will have an estate car in it

The wife is a bit of an eco type so the 911 hasn't been popular from day 1, she also hates the idea of us having 2 cars. I'd need some amazing arguments to convince her that it's safe for the baby.

It all becomes clear.

Basically your wife thinks you should now devote every aspect of your life to the child, and is pissed with you because you have a fast car and spend your money on it. End of story. You're having a baby so you should stop enjoying yourself, stop seeing your mates, stop drinking any beer and buy a diesel MPV and wait for death.

I know my OH was a bit narked that I spend as much as I do having my 911, and she had all the complaints about it being too fast, too noisy, too flash, too small and that I'd use it to pull tarts. It's nearly a mortgage every month after all.

But you know what, she knows that it's my money and she puts up with the car now, and actually enjoys it.

shout Love me, love my 911.

If your missus persists with this then can I suggest you buy a big box of these....Sorry if this sounds harsh I am sure she's lovely but FFS how often have you seen some poor bloke work his ar5e off to buy himself a nice car and then have to flog it when his girlfriend has a baby/wants a house/wants a holiday/wants some jewellery.....

Get KayC to call her and tell her how little it's worth.

Why not get Vixpy to call her - leave her for cheating and keep the 911? (and some peace!)

Hmmm, she is an accountant so that's not a bad plan.

To be fair to her she doesn't really make that much of a big deal of the car, she'd rather take the train or bus every time. She just thinks that fast cars are more dangerous, I haven't helped this much by crashing my old 911 and having a tyre blow on the M4 in the space of 6 months.
