997 Turbo upgrade to 9e 28 by Nine Excellence (pic heavy)
Discussion
And so it begins. All the ducting at front and rear different as GT2 uses quite different air expansion intake tech - not as efficient the GT2 intake set up actually with higher IATs etc compared to 9e 28 tuning kit which holds power a little better than a stock GT2 RS. Circa 685PS on ordinary v power, Tesco 99 , Esso Supreme (when we can buy it). 730PS on MS 109 race fuel
Europipe 2 exhaust thankfully plug and play with GT2 aero kit. Just different 76mm tips.
I thought I was a clever fox waiting till I actually run out of fuel before returning re filling at 24 hr Tesco early doors. Maybe not

I’ve left to 9e/OPC Reading. I’ve given them my fave colours Gulf Blue, Mint Green, Signal Green, Oak Met Green and if OPC fuss about colour change not to worry stick with black but on condition they return me a concours car I will then add another 100k-200k miles too. I spoke to the lovely mädchen who runs Porsche Central Operations and when I first met her she said Porsche can sometime be difficult on colour change. I can understand why but I’ve owned the car from new so hopefully they’ll be fine with it.
Any of the colours I love. I wanted to order the car in Gulf and salesman talked me out of it. We now have a Gulf Blue car in the family but on a GT2 look 997 “special” it will look amazing. Same with all the PTS colours. Son who the car will go to eventually wants black. As he gets a bit older hopefully he will realise how special and cool these historic colours are
All absolutely beautiful colours. Nicest GT2 I’ve seen in UK is guards red. It looks stunning. Any colour looks good with that aero kit

OPC Reading PCO refused to do the GT2 work which 9e have now kindly carried out for me. They lost the parts sale too went to Tonbridge instead. Properly strict about selling GT2 parts to non GT2 owners etc. If they do perhaps fuss about colour change don't really care tbh. I love black. Condor man
I'm not sure I'd be driving one of these if I hadn't seen that film. So cool! They do a body kit for 997 just like that too!

Surely would have been cheaper to buy a GT2 once you’re done
Not really as I bought 997 turbo new in 2007 and immediately depreciated to zero. It was a bucket list car the turbo ever since child hood which I bought with 2007 City bonus. I've been mad about cars since i wasyoung. My dad was into cars too and I worked a summer holiday in an exotic car maintenance garage aged 13 for a summer which belonged to friend of his. The amount of issues I saw new Italian cars coming in with put me off a bit.
Then I saw these old 1960s design 911 which were as fast or faster real world as any exotic and low maintenance in comparison and rugged. Whittering away post I'm making I have not added up total running costs inc purchase price but i reckon inc insurance , maintenance and all the 9e power kit and this GT2 aero kit over 15 years and 100k miles the car has cost me £250k everything but exc fuel. Maybe with colour change a bit more. In scheme of things relatively speaking its buttons and very carbon friendly the way I buy and drive my cars for as many miles as they go for before wheels fall off. Like many on here i could easily upgrade to an exotica but that nagging feeling about fragility really bothers me. My turbo will do another 300k miles no problem and yes its nowhere near as fun as those Italians or as good looking. But for my driving ability and demeanour its perfect. I'm back to black again
When I say old timer over GT2 I think the next classic car I'm going to try will be a F355 Spider for summer nice weather use. This old barge will be all year round all weather use with no guilt about adding miles. Same with F355 but they rust like old 911s so thats summers only. I do like the Speciale Aperta but too big for my use and prices quite ridiculous frankly. Same with CGT. I think those are probably the only 3 cars that interest me other than smaller things like Yaris and Alpine which I adore. Not sold on Emira at all but will reserve judgement till I see one. I know you can drive a truck through the price spectrum of cars thatI like but thats me. I drove my first electric not long ago. Hated but up to 100mph very similar to my turbo. After that I disappear but he doesn't have to queue for fuel sod

Fair play... I love the whole thing... it's fantastic that you've used it properly and still love it enough to do something like this...I've seen a few pictures of your car as it is and loved in then - the wheels etc all really suit it..
Have you done anything with the infotainment to keep it updated ? - or plan to in this phase ?
I use iPhone with ear phones for music, nav and coms. 997 have terrible tyre roar. Better for me to have music etc straight to ears especially at motorway speeds with tyre roar on GT2 size tyres. I agree re 997 turbo stealth look personally loved it too but the areas of concern from previous paint shop made it an OPC Reading job to sort properly and the project grew arms and legs - I hope they do a funky colour really do. Liking yellow today Have you done anything with the infotainment to keep it updated ? - or plan to in this phase ?
Oak is one of my favourite all time colours too. Darker met colours very difficult to look after though in same way as black in terms of paint up keep. My met black chips up so fast as primer is white. I think that mint green 997.2 GT3 is lovely. Maybe my favourite 997 in UK there is a gen 1 997 GT3 in signal equally pretty to my eye. If that MG GT3 ever comes up for sale it will be sold in mins I can tell you! I was chatting to someone outside Porsche Torque with Sid who looks after the servicing on the car for me last few years. So this very nice customer with a beautiful cobalt 997.1 turbo and me were nattering away and I mentioned I had been thinking about a repaint in mint green. The punter goes “oh you’re never thinking about ever selling it again then! it’s marmite I guess
Guess what I've been doing overcast few days. Have to say Oak Green looks amazing my turbo would look similar to this GT3.
Gulf Orange popping
BRG looks almost black in our weather
Gold was a 2009 model year colour
Same colour with RS parts looked better stock IMO
Signal Green again (I love this on GT2 aero)
Cobalt Blue
Another one of minty nos 2 popping in sunlight - to me nicest GT3 in UK. It does make you take deep breath laugh to repaint in this wild hue hence why I have left to 9e and closed my eyes! Sub zero cool but not sure I could pull the trigger on my own. Gulf Blue I'd do without hesitation but Mint is an acquired taste. Bit like Stilton. Love.

If I was truly allowed to go mad I'd have awd delete, forged engine and gearbox. LW OEM carbon front wings , OEM carbon bonnet, LW carbon TUV approved rear quarter panels and carbon roof by Cargraphic. LW interior. I bet I'd still be at 1550 kgs maybe more with driver/fuel. Just not worth it when you can buy a lw carbon car from Woking for such good VFM. I wouldn't be doing this unlessI liked your GT2 so much when you bought her back in the day. Copied your wheels too!
