Some people who say the 996rs is the worst car they've driven(an absolute dog) probably have as much natural driving ability as a monkey with no arms!!! Great car just needs a good driver!!
my views are sheared with those that drive, Porsche's for a living..
Definately not all who drive porche's for a living. The 996rs all-be-it was't to everyone's taste, but its no nonense aproach and difficult on the limit handling was what made it so good, some people just could't drive them properly.

As time goes by their prices will rocket, trust me, i know these things!!!

I think you can, with a 2.7RS,lwt, 1.2?mill most of the owners I know have had copy's built for track use....
No you cant really justify it,they dont cost any more to repair as in labour terms, parts may be,most are obtainable at a cost,if insured correctly no bother is it.
I have been down the rep route of original cars several times,it depends what you are doing with them.if its just track days get the original out and play,if its a nice rare racer also get it and race or use,as ted says, pah get them out!!!
Original cars patina and history is everything, with a few battle scars for good measure.

Whats 1.2 to you apolo!;)

My decision to abandon yesterday was not based on driving standards of others as PCGB trackdays are well marchalled and low on incidents. It was simply down to the fact that I don't enjoy driving on a wet track in the pouring rain - so why bother? Also, Goodwood is a fast track and if you get off the track there is very little that prevents you from hitting anything hard.
Thats fair enough is it not,and sometimes a wise move.As you say goodwood does not take any prisoners ,enjoy the car.

Not realy, proper buyers /collectors will buy it for what it is,not the short term owners who want a pristine historic racer, which there is no such thing, granted people may think like that for a modern car at this moment in time.
Just look at how many 2.7 have been reshelled, rolled, rallied etc,as for 2 .8 even more so.

Yes if its a rare old racer, not so at the moment for a modern classic road car.there will always be some one looking to buy a pristine example road car for sure.
A pristine old racer i would be nervous of,at last restorers in the usa get it about old race cars, not restoring the hell out of them.

If no one wants the 6RS why have they come up at least 30K over the space of 2 years
so you must think that this has absolutely nothing to with every thing else going up then.? just remind me as to what other RSs have done both before and after....% wise...20-30k not a lot is it?...what's a 993 now 300k....964rs, going up by the hr.....4.0..i now think that this will pass the 2.7s

Like I said there is good reason as to why the 6RS is at these levels...

993 RS - £300k? Any links?

4.0 to surpass the 2.7? Bold claim

Yes me, found a nice one that I would like but been informed it has to start with a 3.....4.0...imv, its on its way to 700k for the RHDs.. like others on here we have turned down well over 300k .....in % terms its only 1 x from here, not hard for an RS.....a good one that is....

So.. when is a dog not a dog? you've called both the 6RS and the 4.0 that and assert it is why the 6RS values have been relatively static but being said 'dog' in your opinion hasn't hurt the 4.0 either has it.... wink

Given your penchant for hyperbole I'd be really quite amused to see your reasoning behind why the CGT values have lagged and what you think of that car as well actually....

ah, so now some one that tells the truth, Yes you are correct the 6RS has remained static or very close.....like I said there is good reason for this, in fact, its hard to find any P car, pre the 993 that has not gone up.....but not the 6RS, and neither will it, if it can not go up in this market, when will it...?

As for the 4.0, unlike the 6RS it is clearly loved by many......
