I think the RS market has plateaued in recent years, compared with the excitement they used to generate.
And to command ‘collectible’ prices, they do need to be detail correct.

This one lends itself to usability, but will always be stigmatised.

I do think more could have been done to present it more desirably. And, why not at least return it to its original Light Yellow when the opportunity allowed?
Nice colour and the one in which it left the factory.

I guess the answer is a full colour change would cost a lot more than “freshening up” ! In some way I don’t think it matters....given the cars history and the owners candid admission about how it’s been used etc I don’t think the colour will make much difference. Honestly have no clue what it will go for given it is a re-shell.

I see - so buyer did not perform in the end i guess. Not sure that should be shown as "sold" then - a bit misleading given one could construe the sold price as the market price / a reliable indication of market price

The buyer would still most probably still have to pay the CC fees.

Yes i think so, they charge your credit card shortly after you win and send you an invoice.

Will be in in interesting to see what this goes for...73 RS Touring which has been re-shelled and has a few chassis upgrades, isn’t the original colour etc. Certainly used as intended !

I agree, I would rather pay twice that for a really good car ... but that is what a really good car is worth today.

Tomorrow ?

I have been looking for one of these RS’s for a long while now. Seen a few £500k “good” ones and a couple of crates at £350k. I figured at this price and given the detailed description and one owner last 20 years etc that £246k is worth the gamble. Let’s hope that I’m not wrong!

Well fair play to you...ballsy move ! Did you inspect it before buying ? I bought one at the end of last year...they’re an intoxicating car to drive,

Yes very ballsy move for sure. No I didn’t inspect it but fortunately own a Porsche garage and so hopefully should be able to handle issues. I will let you know once we have it up on ramps what I have ended up with. As I see it it’s an original RS, right hand drive, has a history, same owner c29 years, quality outfits done lots of work, and if it needs another £100k it’s still worth it given the values. Time will tell😬

I don't know - I can't afford a mint one and this is a lot less, so might be a decent deal for somebody - it also sounds like the guy who owned it did spend quite a bit of money on it.
Put differently, I looked at RS and ST replicas for not a lot less money than this in the past, so an original car feels like a much better buy compared to those.
I would have thought it gets a RHD premium given how highly UK buyers seem to value RHD cars

Congrats on the new car - I think it was a good buy (potentially very good)

I see your garage has grown since I last remember looking at it (pre my cut-short trip to lake Como ages ago ...)

Enjoy in good health

Was that you on the M4 going East on Thursday morning? I was going West so only caught a quick glimpse, but it looked great :-)
