It was sold at one point but then the buyer got cold feet, so there's an old link.

The link to the new ad is here

Good result then. Didn't realise it was a 993, I think good ones are more desirable than my 996 though. Did you look at my ad, what do you think? It's the second relist on ebay, last time it only got to 19k.

And that's another strange thing. The reserve is set at 26.5k. I have said clearly in the ad that it won't sell for a penny less than that. So how come people bid silly figures like a pound and 5 grand when it says that? What's the point? What do you gain from bidding once, miles less than the reserve? I can't work it out confused

Thanks bud. The real difficulty for me is that I don't really want to sell. I love that car so much, but i've left my well paid city job and started a business, took the plunge, so money is very tight and I had to be sensible. Problem is the car was on finance so i'm still paying every month for a car I can't use! Double gutting!

I have learnt the hard way - let any and all of them come - dont try and put them off just because someone has said that they will be there tomorrow. So many people will have a nice conversation with you and then feel obliged to say that they will come and see the car on the following day but then dont even have the bks to call you back to say they arent coming and find text the easy way out.

Bad news. I reckon when you sell you should just get a couple to turn up at same time. I advestised a e36 bmw 325conv a good few years back now for 6.500 quid. Both guys turned up at same time, they both loved it. In the end one offered me 6500 the other said 6600 and it kept going until it got to 7500. So I would have taken 6200 if one had popped around but it turned out I got 7500 so they bid me up. I was very happy smile

Oh and it was not underpriced, I paid 7,495 for it 2 years earlier.

For example..what would you intially 'pitch' on the following car..and what would be the 'realistic' price in today's market

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/502521.htm
That's actually quite a realistic price, to start with. Chance your arm at £15k, and be happy to settle at anything under £16k.
Its pratts like you that make selling private so difficult. You focus on the price being offered and not the value of the car being sold. So in this case, that car is very well priced but you'll insist on knocking £2k off for some spurious reason like- " I really want a 4 door saloon but will have your if you give it me for £2k off". I usually write or respond by saying that I was willing to knock £2.5k off but couldnt possibly sell it to you as I would feel guilty at making you buy the wrong car.

The text message didn't bother me, I'm just grateful he let me know more than anything. Obviously I would have preferred a phone call so I could judge if he was still interested but its better than not telling me at all.
